Hello -
Barring a long tale of how I got all set to make a great MAME cab and ran out of time and patience, I have the following to give away. If, however, anyone would donate a nice computer monitor that would make my overwhelming frustration a bit easier...but I digress.
Free:
Tri-Sports (c 1989) upright cab, working 19" (or larger, forget) vertical monitor, coin door, marquee light. The game was working fine, I simply pulled the boards out and haven't done anything else to it.
Must pick-up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on a weekend. Check the pic; please email me for details, etc. It would be nice to see this go to a good home rather than on the street, which is the next option.

Wow, that was quick! I haven't gotten anything at my Hotmail acct, but that likely says more about them than anything else.
Send to: mwgilliard@hotmail.com
Thanks,

D'oh. I've changed my profile to reflect the correct account. :P

AtariKari - do you frequent the Atariage forums? I recognize the name...
-
Small world (web?). Yep, that's me. :) As soon as the CCII or something really worth discussing comes out I'll likely be a regular poster there again.

As soon as the administrators get the email I sent and activate my account again, I'll be a regular poster there(changed my email address and it deactivated my account >:( )

How come these kind of posts never come from Texas???
-
You joking?
Texas got the most free/cheap stuff around. Try getting a cab in south florida.
-
With all the money you save from taxes in Florida you should be able to buy a brand new cab! LOL
-
*sigh* why can't i ever get deals like this in maryland..

You should talk to birdtales... I'm not saying he's giving stuff away for free. But he's more than reasonable individual and I *believe* he's got spare 19" cabinets that were previously offered for trade.
EDIT Okl, I was wrong... I mis-remembered the gist of this
thread in b/s/t here (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=7218)
I see a lot of free/cheap stuff in NJ all the time either here or in RGVAC postings... also you are near the auctions there for possibly cheap deals depending on what you want (and what you'll pay) I assume NJ (at least the southern part) isn't too out of the way for ya... *Shrug* good luck (and if I find something I'lll be sure to pass word here, if applicable)
Now what I want, is to be one of those guys who finds a mint centipede or mr do or star wars on the side of the road for collection that only needs a fuse replacement (or be switched from test mode to play mode)... =P
I bemoan never seeing anything like that around CT =P

Not in my part of Texas. I live on the Mexican border and it's a biiiiiiiiiiig state.

Whoa!
#1 You're from Hamilton!
#2 You want to go BACK! heh
Before you slam me, I'm a Hammertown resident myself. ;)
-
UPDATE: One block away from where I live, on the street, are now two additional arcade machines: SF II and Fighters History. I asked in the store there, and they are free. I have no idea if they work.
To clarify: three arcade cabs for free in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I could not make this up. :)

JakeJake,
check Apex Amusements if you want a cab in cville. It's right on Rose Hill Dr. just off Preston.

JakeJake,
Are you a student? I graduated a while back and now work at SNL Financial on the downtown mall. Just curious. I run into quite a few cville people online every once in awhile and it surprises the hell out of me.

Hey,
Just wanted to drop a line to thank Atarikari for his generous donation of the tri-sports cab/monitor to my friend thebryon's project.
Mike was super pleasent and understand through the process of arranging a mutual time/day for pickup - and if I had the opportunity to buy/sell/trade/pickup free stuff with him again I wouldn't hesitate.
You might be asking yourself, "what's the point of posting that... of course you'd do business with him again, he hooked you up with free stuff"... but sometimes when picking up "free" stuff the giver of the stuff isn't necessarily gracious or accomodating or could have opted to strip out some of the parts to make a buck on ebay or something. (know what I mean?)
So yeah, atarikari was cool to deal with. and I wish him luck on his desktop controller and future projects.
FYI: The SFII cabinet's down the block have been reduced to rubble by local thugs =(

Ps Thanks again for the hook up, AtariKari!

Sounds good. Always good to hear nice comments when deals/trades/whatever goes as planned. Seems like people usualy only mention bad stuff, glad something went well! =) I dunno if the street fighter thing was for me, but I'm going to make sure it's not falling apart when i get teh cab. Most likely I'm going to try to get a defender cab, or possibly an nba jam, that looked nice and sturdy as well. Friday or saturday is when i'll be chosing and bringing it home, so I'll let everyone know what happens.

Thanks, and you're welcome. I hope you guys get years of use out of it.
