I know this topic has been discussed, but I haven't found a clear answer. I am getting ready to print my marquee at a local Kinkos and was wondering what material I should use?
The marquee will be between 2 pieces of plexiglass.
Thanks

They have material thats for the same purpose at kinko's.. Just go there and tell them what you need!

Deathmonk, Thanks for the reply, but that doesn't help me too much.
After reading in the archives about bad experiences at Kinkos or printing shops, I was hoping to know exactly what material to ask for in case the kinkos person is clueless.

What you want is called "backlit" (or "back light") media. It allows much more light through than paper (brigher), and it is more even too. Some backlit media is printed on the front, some on the back.
Call them up and talk to them first. If it doesn't sound like they know what you're talking about, they probably don't.

Just went up to Kinkos at lunch. They sent me to their instore kinkos guru. He is putting the marquee on the "back light" media paper tonight. FYI it is printed positive or on the front side (as neuromancer pointed out). My marquee is 26.5 X 6.5 and it ran me $17. Not too bad. I'll let you know how the quality is tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys!

Doh! Sorry I wasn't specific! :)

What format did they require your marquee to be in? .jpg, .pdf etc?
-
I still haven't picked it up yet, but I would suggest calling them first to see what format they accept. I took the image in .tiff format, but I know they accepted .jpeg and that might be a better way to go.

The best format to bring them is a pdf version 4 or less. I learned this the hard way once when I brought in a version 5 file and it didn't print right. :P Sometimes they sneak in a 'file conversion charge' if you bring in anything else. Although I can only speak for the kinko's's that i've been to, YMMV.
