Ok I have my cab running on Svideo at the moment just for testing and although playable I know it can be better. After a previous post of mine I was told to make myself a VGA to Scart lead. I was given the links to the relevant website and away I went with my prep.
I got myself a scart end and a VGA cable. I cut one end off the VGA cable and stripped back the wire. Now I am comfortable enough with a bit of soldering but I have a question regarding some of the wires. The wires in question seem to have a shielding around them and when I tested them they all seemed to earth to the metal on the VGA end of the socket. Now do I have to replicate this at the scart end or not or can I just cut it back?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2M-SCART-LEAD-TO-15-PIN-HD-VGA-SVGA-CABLE-UK-SELLER_W0QQitemZ180220014289QQihZ008QQcategoryZ41999QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
i'll let you know if it works but looks like it will for £5 it's not worth making your own but going have to run the 15khz software ;D

Interesting. I wonder whether that would work with an Xbox.

Thanks I will appreciate knowing how you get on.

These Cables will NOT work as they are SCART->VGA, and you will need VGA->SCART
(Pinout most likely has other Sync-Pin at SCART Plug)
As for the earth ground wires on your cable, that should be fine as they actually are common ground on most VGA cards.

So are you saying just earth the main shield and cut the rest back?

The second one looks promising depending on your card but do you have a component input on your UK TV?

You most likely won't find any cable like the one you want, as it simply isn't a common thing.
Hell... Most non-EU TV don't even have any way to get RGB signal in.
As for component... I don't know how those cables work in detail, I suspect there are more or less simple RGB connections with "sync-on-green", which won't work with SCART either.
