Title: Wg 25k2193 test point problem
Post by: Ziggy on February 26, 2008, 12:05:33 pm
hello

I have a problem with the monitor that does not turn on. Change a couple of resistors and diodes damaged. The test point some have no voltage.

The test point 103,104,105,105 if they have, but 106 seems to get the excessive voltage
I think, Because I can not measure. Tp200, 201,202,203,304,205 are total mind without voltage.

the resistors r760 (res 100 ohm 5% 1/2 w)*. i used res 467 ohm inserted is over head.

I used the manuals: * wg-u5000 and p-717 from http://www.wellsgardner.com/service/

Thanks!

You have a U2000 not a 5000. Similar problems though and you need the U2000 power supply update kit and the U2000 vertical sweep update kit.

My board is p-717. But I can not see the power supply, i can only see several components in a box marked on this board. I  change various part from other spare parts board  but only can`t change the transformer (t101)

i'm going to use the manual to correct, but if you have anything else that could help me, i would appreciate it.

Thanks! again

If your problem is the monitor won't start up, the first thing you should do is see if your monitors power supply is operating.  Does it make a clicking noise?  Lift jumper W159 and try wiring a 40W light bulb between the end of the jumper and ground to see if the bulb lights. If it does light then measure your B+, should be around 130VDC.  If your light bulb is lit and your voltage is correct, there are a couple of possibilities for the problem.  If it does not light then your power supply is not operating.  One thing to try is replacing C117 if this is the case.

The main problem is a bought a resistance of 150 K and the one that it needed it was of 100 oms.  I trusted the person than sold me the parts to do his job.  Since this is part of a hobby that I have, I didn't verify it.  After going on circles about it, i ended up in the first place.

Thank you all for your help and patience.  All the manuals were of many help.  And specially to Ken Layton, you gave me the clue that I needed to finish it.

sarge, thank you for your help also, the jumper and the light bulb was a good trick.

Thank you all and i'll be writting soon with more challenges.
