I recently discovered this forum and have greatly enjoyed looking at all the completed projects - so I'd thought I would share my 1st cabinet. I purchased this Donkey Kong 3 cab for $50. It was in bad shape.

After I stripped her. Note the damage from the lock bar. The coin mech weren't much better.
-
After a lot of Bondo and three coats of primer.
-
And here is the final product. Work to completion - approx 5 weeks
-
I modded the control panel with a second button required for the multicade games. I wanted to keep the look as original as possible.
-
A couple more pics during the work in progress. 3 coats of DK Blue :)
-
Well done! My favorite game. I take it you mame'd it somehow? Or is the cabinet just running DK?
-
It's running a 48-in-1 ::) You can see the menu in this pic.
-
Got a closer pic of the CP?
-
Very nice job! How did you paint it? Spray? Rollers? It came out great.

Here's a close up of the CP.
4 coats painted with 3" cabinet roller. Hand sanded between each coat.

looks awesome, I'm in a very similar situation (i have a smb cab) and am not sure if im going to restore or make it into a dk. Would you be willing to tell me the color code for that blue paint? i've been searching for a while for that color match. Also, did you prime right over the old color? if so what primer? oh yeah, one more thing, oil based or laytex paint? thanks
