Does the Hantarex Polo 25" need an iso transformer?
If it doesn't (which is what I suspect) and I can wire my monitor as described in the mentioned thread, then I can get my Mame cabinet up and running this weekend!!!
Many thanks!

Yes, the Polo requires an isolation transformer. I had one in my Op Thunderbolt.
Best,

Ooh, ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, thanks!
So - I'm an almost complete noob at this. I have a Jamma cab with this monitor in it, and the cabinet and monitor work fine.
From looking in the cab, I can't seem to find an iso transformer, unless I'm looking for the wrong thing. The power cable fed into the cabinet is connected to a switch (the cab on/off switch is inside the cabinet) and this goes to the FG and two AC terminals on the power supply. Also connected to the same terminals are the power cables to the monitor.
Is there somewhere, or can anyone tell me, what I should be looking for (and where) for an isolation transformer in the cab, and how to wire all this? I've been reading article after article for weeks now, and have just done nothing but confuse myself.
I would be more than happy to Paypal someone some money to help me get this sorted out - I am desparate to finish my Mame cabinet!
Cheers!

polo have smps so a iso transx is not needed,no harm in fitting one though as it makes fault finding much safer
if you want an iso transx then happ do them and you can find them on ebay

if you are in the u.k suzo can get that iso for you as well
-
Awesome, thank you. I'm in the UK and have just started downloading Suzo's catalogue.
So, when I get the transformer, is there I guide I should follow to get this wired up?
Would it be:
Powerstrip from mains to inside of cab. Iso xformer connected to monitor power cable, with a plug on the end. Plug monitor (with iso x), PC, and PC speakers, into powerstrip.
?
Thanks!

yes to wiring setup but you don't really need the iso transx, you will not find it in the suzo catologue-you can only find it in the happ site.suzo and happ are the same company so suzo can get anything happ stock
trouble with suzo is they have a minimum order amount of £30,the iso is about £10 so you would need to pay another £20 handling charge
-
Awesome, thank you for your help and advice :) I'm going to wire it this weekend without the iso, I will post back here with the results.
Cheers!

Maybe the changed over the years! My polo definitely needs one, but the one I had was as old as the Op Thunderbolt.

U.S issued polo are slightly different in the power supply to the U.k polo, are you in the U.S?
-
Yup I'm in the US.

Worked like a charm :) As of last night my machine was up and running perfectly :) Thank you!

Would this work the same with a Hantarex MTC 900? (ie, no iso transformer?)
-
hantarex mtc900 and mtc9000 need an isolation/stepdown transformer,i know the u.k versions of both use 2 seperate voltage inputs-120v for monitor power supply and 230volts for the degauss circuit
if you put 230volts into the power supply section of the monitor chassis you will at a minimum blow the crap out of a couple of diodes and the mains smoothing cap
