When you are working on a project cab, they often look worse then one day, look amazing. Keep up with the hard work, and you'll experience this too. Painting and final touches really bring it in at the end.
If you want two sides to match up better with the bondo portion, the other side of the cab is in perfect shape. Trace it onto a blank sheet of wood, cut it out with a jig saw so you have a template. Then clamp it to the other side and sand the bondo portion down to match. Good job with the bondo so far; that stuff dries really quick and is quite messy!

I'd be cautious about installing a monitor you know ahead of time, is too small. Might be in your best interest to see if you can't scavenger a bigger one of ebay or craig's list, or go the TV route. In my opinion, nothing looks more silly then this big old cab with a tiny porthole monitor in it.
Looking good btw.

You should be able to find a 19" pc monitor for cheap or free somewhere in Houston. Don'r settle for a small screen.
Post an ad on freecycle for a 19" pc monitor. Go to the local Goodwills. Call up the local pc repair places.

Great work..
It's very amazing that you started so young!
wont be long till you will teaching others on this board.
I agree with the others about the monitor.
I used a 17" on my first. I regretted that from day one.
Go with at least a 19", JMHO..

I can't flame you since you've done more than I (one [1] control stick). Looks great so far.
Most importantly, that Bubble Bobble Marqee is the best and you must keep it. ;D

Looks like a decent cab. Have you thought about tracing and repainting the Stern logos on the sides? Ive never seen those before.
BTW, I did my first two restorations over the last couple years and Im 16. I'd like to construct a MAME cab, but with three in the basement already (Ms Pac, Galaga and a NEO GEO cab) Ma says theres no room for a MAME. Kids at school think Im nuts for pouring my money into old technology...

naw i dont wanna repaint it and buy a pcb and all the stuff to make it dedicated. i figured why waste one cab on a single game while id like to play a few other

Thats true. Do you have any idea of what game was in it when it left the factory?

Hey!!! That's my garage! ;D and my cabinets!
Muffinman: if you still want that 21" monitor I told you about, I've got them here at work now. I can bring it home with me and you can pick it up Saturday. I'll swap you for the buttons and joysticks or $$ we talked about. Let me know.
Yeah the cab you built is pretty clean, and luckily incomplete enough to customize it and make my own.
I hope you enjoy that Bubble Bobble cab, it already looks 1000 times better than when I had it.
Pretty soon you guy will see my build log, after I get enough done to not just post pictures of all of muffinman's work :)

Nice work so far. So how did you get into old school games? It's a shame you weren't around when arcades were mainstream... (at least old enough to stand!)
;D

Looking SWEET. Did you end up scrapping the metal frame of the monitor, or did you leave it on there?
To whoever had asked, that cab started it's life as 'Scramble':

Keep up the good work! :applaud:
-
Looking good - how's the monitor angle? It looks a bit steep, but may just be the camera angle...

the angle is in pretty good, i kept messign with the angles when i test fitted it got in there the best i could..i got it support the monitro now i just need to block the sides from it moving around and stuff
To Do
- Secure Monitor
- Fill in holes from sides
- Apply Vinyl to sides
then work on cp might have to redesign it iono i thinks its a bit close or something
any feedback guys?
-
On your CP I would leave the joysticks where they are but you may consider moving the buttons away from the joysticks a couple of inches. Just my 2c.

Good job man!

Agreed. Might want tocheck out these button measurements (http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/Projekt.htm). Google can help you convert mm to inches pretty easy. I used this site when doing my layout.
