I'm repairing a power supply that has a bad C3039 M9A1 Transistor/Regulator. I've tried looking up the part in a couple of spec www.alldatasheet.com but can't seem to make sense of it. I see in the Big BLue Book to match the hfe but I don't know how to do this.

That is a very common transistor in arcade game switching power supplies. It's actually a 2SC3039. C3039 and 2SC3039 are the same transistor. It cross references to an NTE 379.
Zanen Electronics (the capkit people) and MCM Electronics stocks the C3039/2SC3039 and I think Bob Roberts does too.

Thanks again Ken! :applaud:

I go through those transistors alot so I buy them from whoever has 'em on sale. Usually they sell for around $1.35 each or so.

Just be careful w/ MCM. GREAT company with good selection, but shipping minumums are around 7-8 bucks. I used to work for a sister company and bought a lot from them (at their cost - picked up some killer deals), but shipping was prohibitive on a lot of stuff.

Agreed! I purchased five T25 security bits from them because they were a bit that we used the most, and had broken three within six months of heavy use. The price of the bits was reasonable, but the overall total of the order was over $25 with their shipping and handling.
I called to complain and they pretty much shrugged and said "Tough. Deal with it."
