Title: Replace stick microswitches with different ones, good idea?
Post by: Stormrider on February 22, 2008, 12:41:41 pm
I had a PSM30 stick laying around and I decided to replace the standard microswitches it had (no metallic plate... the shaft touches the switches buttons directly) with the kind of switches that had the metallic plate. Now, it feels more rounded, rather than squared, and the throw is noticeably shorter. My question is: can this harm the stick or shroten the life of the microswitches? The model of stick is like this one: http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/PSM45.htm

The answer is, that there's no reason at all why it should shorten the life of the stick. However, they have a pretty short throw to start with. They're a great stick for use on fighters. I'd just have replaced the switches with standard cherry (red) ones. not with lever ones.
