Title: Pentranic Model# pc1027 Serial# 12203
Post by: JinxedSoul on February 17, 2008, 06:39:38 pm
I just got my arcade cabnit w/ 26" monitor. I was told by the guy i got it from that it was working but when he moved it stopped working.

When i got it the anode cap was off and it looks like at least 2 of the caps are leaking.

At the moment i have no way to test it cause the game and jamma harness was ripped out.

I assume i would actually need some video input to know if it was working eh? can't just apply power?

Also does anyone know where i could get the schematic and cap kit for this model?:
Pentranic
Model# pc1027
Serial# 12203
CGA 26"
CH-281
Manufactured April 1997

all i can find is 1025 model

being that new, it is unlikely that a "cap kit" is needed.
reseat the anode cup, replace the caps and try to determine WHY they have failed. what circuit affected ?
nor found anything on search  - yet

ummmmm, ur 1st pic shows a mfg date of april 1997  there may well be additional faulty caps.
in pic 2, be sure to scrape off the darkened adheasive. over time it will absorb moisture and can rot
component leads and even copper traces..

Is that adhesive or electrolyte from a cap?

I am assuming this is a CH-281 Chassis?

EDIT: FEB 19 2008
It is a CH-281 btw.

Manged to pull the boards out today. Caps will need to be replaced as a few are leaking.

I am actually not sure what is wrong with the monitor because the dynamo cab that it came in had the jamma and controls taken out. I was told the monitor needs repairs when i picked it up. No idea if it even had a picture.
I do know the fuses are still good.

I'm worried the fly back might be damaged as i don't know if i can get a replacement.

Does anyone have the schematics for the Pentranic CH-281?
Also can anyone recommend any parts other then the caps that i should replace before i test it?

Nobody can make a recommendation until you plug it in and see what happens...

I know its scary  ;D  but it needs to be done.

Fair Enough, I just figured i might as well replace anything else thats known to go bad on the ch-281 boards at the same time i replace the caps.

I've got the CH-281 board and similar Pentranic monitor, and have just finished discharging the monitor for cap replacement.  I can tell you that I haven't been able to find a schematic of the 281 or a cap kit. I contacted Bob Roberts but he didn't know what it was either. When I contacted Pentranic they told me to go to their website and download the drawings for the 288.
