I am having trouble getting my control panel working. In windows the trackball and TT2 work. In some games they work in others they do not. In most games player 1 joystick works but not player 2 joystick. When 2 joysticks are used it uses player one and the fight stick.
Hardware is a TT2 set to X axis hooked up USB, Happ 3 in trackball hooked up to USB. I have two GP-Wiz MAX 32 Input USB Controls Interfaces hooked up USB. One is device 1 and one is device 2. Player 1 joystick/buttons are on player 1 of device 1, player 2 joystick/buttons are on player 2 of device 1, the flight stick is on player 1 of device 2. I hooked up the flight stick buttons to the TT2. I have 2 mouse buttons hooked up to the track ball. I have the admin buttons hooked to player 1 and 2 of device 1 and none of them are working.
EasyMane works but I can not get the control panel to use the correct items on the control panel. For example it uses player 1 joystick for Tron not the flight stick and player 1 joystick for Centipede not the track ball. I have tried to changing the settings. I think I do not know how to make the right ini files or configure it. Also it does not seem to be saving the settings.
Mala comes up with a game list but the controls are not working. I can play on using the keyboard but not the controls. I can not figure out how to configure Mala to my CP. Once it runs the first time I can not get back into the configuration menus to change anything. The only way I can get back to that is to rename the Mala.ini file and run Mala the first time again. Not efficient. I used UncelTs guide and it got me further then anything else I tried.
GameEX I get this error “Error: Emulator_2: WorkingPath Does Not Exist” I have gone thought and tried not setting up any other emulators except Mame and looking for where the error was using the Setup Wizard with no resolution. It seems to be the only error I get when I try to run GameEx. If someone wanted I could send them the while list of the output message I get but I am not sure if it would be help full. I do not set up video, eBook reader or any of other things that GameEx has options to set up. I just want to run the games.
Mame32 seems to work about the best of them all. I can plug in what I want to use such as TT2 and flight stick and they work as they should. I do not want to have to keep plugging in this and that every time I change games.
Atomic Front freezes most of the time. If it does come up it only has 3 games out of 2 or 3 hundred that others come up with. I can not figure out any of the controls. I also can not get into the configuration part of it.
I am pretty sure I need an encoder but have no idea how to set it up or anything. I also keep seeing references to snaps files that I can not find or seem to make or anything like that.
I have looked in the Wiki and used the search feature for hours :dunno :dizzy: trying to figure this out with no luck. Another helpful thing would be a sheet for each front end that has a list of commands and the key for them some thing like this. And also tells how to get into the configuration menus.
5 is to add a coin
1 starts player one
2 starts player

You could try the AutoMamewah pack I made. It comes with most of the emulators pre configured to work out of the box. You still have to manually set up the controllers for each emu but other than that it's pretty much plug and play.

Start each game and (with a keyboard attached) hit TAB. The you will be able to tell MAME what keys to use for the game in question. If you have a lot of games, it could take a bit, but worth it. I plan on having 40 or so games on my MAME cab, and will just use TAB to set up controls for each game... (Not a big deal, if you have the game, might as well deal with it)

Even worse, I work at a "5 and dime" store. If you think IT people get stupid questions, then prepare yourself for the retardation that I need to deal with... I Mean, I have to deal with people who cannot even count their OWN money... *sighs* Good thing I am honest and dont rip people off.. But still, IT peeps get more dosh than I do, but I have to deal with the local public (Read: tards)

Just something to add. While it's true that some game setups need to be tweaked beyond the default setup applied to all games, this is not the rule.
Changing the default setup will get you 90% there and the rest you can tweak on a per game basis.

I am also frustrated beyond belief! :soapbox:
I need almost the same help the creator of this thread needed. I just upgraded to Mame 0v123 and it seems the sound on my games is totally scratchy and totally unplayable. After a bit of searching I found that the mame32 is now called mameui32.
What I really need to know is if anyone could tell me how to access the video and audio options in mame v.123? I'm pulling my hair out looking for this...
