So I'm trying to get it to build the same thing as what MameUI shows in the Originals folder. Best I can come up with is doing an add with "master only", but that's definitely not the same list (e.g. I get 2 1942 games, and neither is the one that MameUI shows in Originals.
Furthermore, I'm trying to import the MameUI Favorites folder, and it doesn't seem to work. I pick the favorites.ini file, then it has a prompt to pick the folder with an empty list.
How do I get these 2 game lists?
And perhaps another helpful question (as I search for my ideal FE) is, which FE does the best job of managing/building gamelists for MAME?

I found RomLister, and that seems to take care of the Originals one (on first glance, it appears to be the same).
Still wondering why the import mame32 folder function doesn't seem to work though.

I tried to import mame32 ini for classics list but never could get it to work either.

Figured out a workaround for Favorites. I tried loading Version, and that worked (it prompted for lists .001, .002, etc.). So I just loaded the Favorites ini in Notepad and added a subfolder to match the format I saw in Version.ini.

Hey ShanMan, sorry to drag up an old thread. Been looking for exactly what you have found a work around for with the favorites lists and mala. Question I have is how did you add a subfolder while in notepad. I can't seem to figure out what you did here.

Hey same here. I had this same problem a year ago. I ended up entering my favorites one at a time into MALA. Also I seemed to have lost about 1200 games in my "ALL GAMES" list. I never worried much about it since none of them were games I wanted to play. If there is a easier way please let me know. Im running mame32ui 147 with mala fe.

Ok. I figured it out. I just added a number in brackets in the favorites.ini file so mala has something see to import and it worked perfectly. Also remember to save the new .mlg file into the main mala folder. :applaud:
