The Xbox has pretty useless arcade sticks.
What I want to do is gut a cheap Xbox pad, stick it in the DC stick and solder the controls to the Xbox pad.
I would appreciate any advise from someone who has done this or some website info.
How do you get around the fact that the buttons are analogue? Are the solder points easy to locate? etc etc
I was also thinking, would it be possible to use a cordless RF pad with the DC stick?

Why a DC stick. Might as well start w/ a better base. There are better things to start with. My site shows stuff that I've done similarly. I'm working on an Xbox one now.

I'm also trying to hack a madcatz xbox pad now...
but if you want to be switchable....
I think easiest is hack a ps2 pad... then get those converters....
analog button.... I haven't figure it out completely yet... but I think they might not have the same ground..... (which will make hacking it a little bit more complicated....

how do you wire it so it can play on separate systems, ie xbox and mame? is it just gonna be one pushbutton splitting off to separate pads?

I imagine he's got a modded box and will play mame on xbox, no? Supercool.
My question- one I've had for a while - is what to do about the analog STICKS. ??? Unless you're only playing fighters or games which use the dpad only and not the stick. If that's the case get a X-arcade stick and be done with it. I'm VERY interested in hacking a controller but only if I get analog STICK support out of it - I don't use the analog button control much.

I think u can hack analog buttons... but it becomes digital... (because those microswitch pushbuttons are digital...)
for analog sticks.... usually, those pads also have a digital direction pad... so... hack that instead....
for now, I don't recall any good way / cheap way / reliable way to hack an analog stick.....
(well... that I know of.... and I donno much... lol....)
:P

PSOne Dualshocks are a better way to go yes. You can get the sony and an adaptor for little more than just one Xbox controller. I just am work on an Xbox one so that I can sell it with the USB adaptor.
