Title: Sale/trade evaluations or feedback?
Post by: godmare on May 19, 2003, 02:12:01 pm
Do you guys here use any evaluation service, such as Heatware, for your trades?

Edit:
I've altered the title of the post to more accurately reflect the content.

Amazing, 42 message views and nobody has any clue how to answer me.
Quite obviously this was simply a waste of time.

Only 2 posts on this board... one to ask on honest question and one to get on peoples' case for not knowing.

If you didn't get a reply, though, I think that answers your question because people around here are good about replying. So the answer is more than likely "no".

Obviously you came here with a question. Sorry if we can't answer it for you, but it's neither our job now our obligation. I'm slightly offended by your rudeness. I'm almost tempted to just say "back off".

Anothing "hint" - maybe next time a posting with a more specific title will get more real results and NOT just a lot of hits wondering "what's in there?"

Probably true.  Had to look up Heatware to see what you were asking.

Due to the small community on this board it is probably not necessary.

Just my opinion.

I have made "Good trader" posts in relation to everyone I have done a mail order deal with.

Then you consider I finally do get responses from people when I become assertive.
I searched specifically for a board that does arcade trading, I have a lot of things I'd like to unload... I don't use ebay for several reasons, and the other boards to which I belong are not geared towards arcades, etc.
I would, however, have reservations about dealing with people where there is no feedback or policing system, and I would expect people to feel the same about dealing with me, particularly as a sellser, when I have only, as has been pointed out, 2 posts.
Now, even your reply, AlanS17, was ambiguous regarding my question.
Evidently, then, there is no such evaluation service, so I now ask: Would you do business with me as a seller, knowing what you do about me?

So, it's more like a 'word-of-mouth' thing?

Mostly older things. I have several panels and a lot of older boards.
I have a John Elway Team Quarterback board and a Super Sprint board, for instance.
I haven't gone through a lot of it just yet.

Lots of people are here on a very regular basis. You kind of get a feel for the good and bad ones.

I just recently traded some parts with a guy. They should get here this week. Of course some people are probably more trustworthy than others.

The Buy/Sell/Trade forum might be the most popular here. If someone wasn't a good trader everyone else would know about it.

I see, thank you.
I'll get some things together, then, and throw up a thread soon.

I'd just like to point out that the motivation for the question you asked wasn't even made apparent untill about half-way through the thread.  It's hard to answer a question when you don't even know the context in which it is asked.

Now, had you written something like:

Hi,

I'm new to this site and have some things to offer.  Do I need to subscribe to an escrow/feedback service to sell here?

I'm sure you would have received a number of replies without the need to become "assertive". :)

Of course, since the first thing you brought up was whether there was an escrow/feedback service in use here, one has to think there are trust issues at play before the first offer has even been made. ;)
