Title: WG 19k4900 - will a cap kit fix me up?
Post by: shardian on February 08, 2008, 10:55:28 pm
On start up, the monitor is tinted red, and has white streaks on the left up and down (vertical oriented monitor). As the machine warms up, the white lines mostly go away, and the red tint goes away. I am assuming a cap kit and reflow should resolve these problems. Can someone comfirm so I can order up the kit?

how long is the interval from turn on till "lines" disappear ?

without a print , can't provide ref #'s . but, there should be a 4.7-22uF cap around 160 -250v that is the Vboost source for the rgb drive to crt . it may be on the "neck" board or on the main chassis . it would be a good place to start -  unless u just wish to "shotgun" it - ?

could also be a weak crt , or needing drives rebalanced....

They don't ever fully go away, but they are barely even noticeable after a while. I'd say the red is gone after about 4-5 minutes, and the lines are pretty much gone at about 10 minutes.

I was figuring on a "shotgun" kit since the monitor is old anyways. I will look at my manual and track down that cap you mentioned.

i took a look at the print .
 www.arcadeworldllc.com/images/Scans/Monitor%20Schematics/Wells_Gardner_19k4900.pdf

this IS an older unit and does NOT use Vboost for rgb drive .
regulated b+ (123v) is used here for crt drive.

so, suggest checking c205,c506,c507,c707 .    but problem is likely a weak crt....
