Title: Outstanding site with arcade controls analysis
Post by: Stormrider on February 06, 2008, 03:02:42 pm
I've just found out this webpage, which is, by far, the most complete resource for information about sticks, buttons and arcade controls in general, specially because the precise data it offers and the wide range of sticks and buttons it analyse, including American, Japanese and European controls. Not only does it describe and offer exact data about every piece of hardware, but also features articles about recommended sticks for every arcade game genre, commercial control panels, a construction guide, ergonomics about the pushbuttons, information about the makes, an impressive demonstration about the methodology used for analysing the controls, and much more. The only problem is it's in Polish, so it's almost impossible to understand anything, even with the help of online translators. I wonder if there's any similar project in English or if somebody has translated or summarized the contents of this site.

It looks very good. I am sure there is someone on here that could translate it all. Maybe its worth trying to ask permission to copy the site to the wiki then some polish speakers could translate it for us. Worth a try?

well, polish translation from inter tran was the best it got, it was far from understandable to me. It may be a specific dialect that no online translator can handle?

Kowal, any chance of these being converted to english someday?

Polish is a very difficult language to translate because the meaning and spelling of words changes dependant on the context and the subject in any one sentence. Which is why the online translators mostly don't support the translation of it.

Thanks for the info Julian.

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, I'm a pollack and I didn't even recognize the language!!!

It's kind of irritating for me too.... I buy quite a lot of Polish cardboard model kits... they don't usually provide English translations for the instructions and some of them have litterally thousands of individual parts to assemble  :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: I have to spend a lot of time with the translation dictionary and a fair bit of guess work.
