Please tell me how I could add some sort of latch or lock to this coin door. It'd be nice if I could still open it, but not have it always swinging open...
I don't really know how coin doors are usually done, so please help me out.

Isn't that hole toward the top for a lock?

What type of lock though? And how would I do it?(I don't have a clue :( ) I'm very ignorant when it comes to arcade stuff, sorry.

You can buy these locks at Home Depot for about $3. You are looking for a 7/8" cam lock and are usually found in the aisle with the screen door and cabinet hardware. If you can't find them locally, many arcade places carry these.

It's just a regular coin door lock. They sell them at Home Depot. I belive it's a 5/8" cylinder lock, IIRC...

Just to add, they are packaged as "drawer/cabinet locks" and from the Home Depots I've been to, are in the same aisle with doorknobs and deadbolts... :)

On one of my machines, I put the free play (coin 1) button in the lock hole, and just use a piece of foam double sided tape to keep the door closed. I don't open that door very often though. This might be a bad solution for a door that needs to be opened frequently.
On my "open often" cab I used a Home Depot (Lowes actually) cabinet lock as OSCAR describes above.

Any home improvement store (Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Fleet Farm, Ace, True Value, etc..) will have these. They may be called "filing cabinet/drawer locks". They are typically found in 7/8" and 1 1/8" lengths. I believe the Bally Midway coin doors use 7/8" ones (but you can always bend the bar the 1/4" forwards or backwards as needed if you get the wrong ones).
They should not cost any more than $2.99 each.
Bob Roberts has a pack of 2 7/8's and 1 1 1/8" for $7, but add $6 flat shipping if you dont want anything else, and it costs more than buying locally, though you get them all keyed alike from him.
