Hello all,
I've been busy configuring my first CP and I noticed something odd when trying to configure buttons in Vanguard and Stargate using the game menu that appears when pressing the 'Tab' key in a game.
Vanguard has 4 buttons (--BINGO! Either that, or I was attempting to say "before" but it was too many letters to type--: fire-up; B3: fire-down; B2: fire-forward; B1: fire-back) - I have no problem configuring buttons 2, 3, 4 but when I try to configure button 1 (the button I want to use for B1 is button 4 on the Ipac or the L-shift) it comes up as 'Left Shift Right Shift' - meaning you would have to hit both L-shift+R-shift for this button to work. I thought perhaps I had made a mistake with my wiring (checked, no problem) and then I tried to configure the same button in another game and it came up L-shift no problem. I ran into this same issue when trying to configure the 'Reverse' button in Stargate. I'm running Mame .079...is this an issue with this version or have others experienced this problem....or am I doing something wrong?
Any assistance is appreciated.
Cheers,
Breaker.

i was having this problem with my joust setup...
just set the button to 'esc'...that will reset it so you can then designate it as anything you want...!

Thanks FG,
I'll give that a try this evening and post my results.
Any idea why the 'Esc' key works and not another? I ask because I did try to set the button to another key and then reset to my desired key but had no luck...humm.
Anyway, I'll let you know.

This happens occasionally when you map buttons while the game is paused. Try unpausing the game while making your key assignments.

Besides ditto what ahofle said,
Any idea why the 'Esc' key works and not another?
Esc by default is mapped to mame's "UI Cancel". So esc cancels whatever you're doing.

Hi all,
Well, ahofle you hit it right on the head; setting the button when the game was unpaused did the trick - much appreciated!
Now just one more issue to resolve with Robotron and I'm done :)
Cheers,
Breaker.
