So I went to go clean up my old childhood home my parents had rented out for some time now. And in the garage was what appeared to be a large crate. The dude that was living there was told me he was going to build a closet to put his tools and junk. But he got a better gig and had to move. He was starting to dismantel it and was going to throw away the wood. There are 6 11x4 15/32 S Rated Sheath. 3-ply and like 10 9' 2x4's. I was wondering if i could use this to build a cabinet. There is one problem! Two of the sheets were outside for a while in the rain, but look ok. Can some one help.

I had a nearly simalar expierience...
Someone was throwing away a drafting table and I took it for 1" thick hardwood. This is now the top of my cocktail cab ;D

Really? So you did you use it. Do you think the wood I have can be used for a full upright ?

That wood is a bit on the thin side. Most cabinets use either 9/16" or 3/4" wood. But if you built an inner frame with the 2x4s it should come out plenty strong.

Yes of course an inerframe!!! That sounds like a good idea. Cuz the wood is awfully thin. I wasnt sure if I could use it, and it would of been a waste to throw it away. I have a guide from www.cybertechdesign.net but no framing guide can some one send a good link? ;D

You can usaully just make frames and stuff up. I had a cab with the front kicked in; and we repaired it, but in the process it's structural integrity was comprimized. We made up some Cross-Bars from 2x4s and it was fine. If the frame goes into the corners; it will make the joints easy :)

Yes, by all means use it as it's free!!
15/32" is 12mm in my language. I threw together a smallish upright for my kids using 12mm MDF and as already suggested, if you use a few braces connecting the side panels at strategic points it will be plenty strong enough. You'll also have the added bonus of a much lighter cabinet!
Don't worry about not having plans for braces, just use a couple of offcuts that are at least 6" wide and attach them to the side panels using angle brackets.
Just make sure you make a nice solid frame at the base of the cabinet as this will hold it all together!!

Great Help here I knew I came to the right place I will begin work in 3 weeks lets see how it turns out. 3 more weeks and im outa school. thanks again fellas

Ok I got an idea now. That frame looks great thanks for the link Sshado. I spent hours last night looking for a simple how to, and now Im almost done all I need now is time time and more time. The count down begins :D
