When you click on a mame game's property tab it shows the resolution....x...., I assume this is the resolution the original game ran at. When I use my arcadevga card does it automatically select that resolution or do I have to configure something? Right now my frontend is displaying at 640x480 and I selected the same from the galaga icon of the video card. I can play all the games and they look fine but I'm not sure if they are being displayed in the resolution mame lists for them in the properties tab.
ANY reply would be really appreciated, even if it's just to bash me....at least it would be a reply.
Thanks

For the most part MAME will pick the closest correct available resolution, but not always. I usually go in and manually select the closest resolution just out of habit. There are also resolution tools which will go through all your games at once and create MAME ini files with the correct resolutions, but even those are not fool proof.

Thanks, so I adjust res in Mame, not through the video card software?

Yes through MAME. It will switch resolutions when you start a game, and then return to your desktop resolution (640x480) when you close it.

go to ultimarc and get the AVres Tool and install it and it will automaticly generate and make all the games run nativly with the correct resolutions that the games were meant to be played at.
most dont get the full use out of their arcadevga without it.

Thanks for the help, I think I got it now. At first I was thinking what did I pay 100 bucks for ....this looks just like a computer monitor. Now that I have them running at there native resolutions on an arcade monitor I see the light...beautiful just like a real machine
