Title: Now it make sense again - but tommy should still be required to read this

Why Boston sports teams are so dominant now. (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=contract/080121)

18-1 is still 18-1.  It's not 19-0... but 18-1 is still a great year.   :applaud:

Just a little ribbing for you since your Red Sox embarrassed my Rockies in the WS.

I hate to say it, but 18-1 means next to diddly squat now. I really think they needed to lose a game near the end. If they would have lost that Giants game, things would have been different methinks. The Pats were anything but a Juggernaut for almost 2 months now. Everyone needs that jolt of a loss to move on to the next level after a time. The Giants got it, the Pats didn't and you see how that turned out now.

18-1 is still second place for the season.  It is not a world championship, sure, but if second place is meaningless than there are 30 other teams that were less than meaningless.

18-1 is a great year ONLY IF THEY WIN THE SUPERBOWL!   The "18" part doesn't mean SQUAT unless they win the Superbowl.  Football is about winning the Superbowl and if you make it all the way there undefeated then LOSE,  I call that the ultimate choke!

I'm sure their disappointment is on par or greater than everyone who loses in a championship game.  I don't think their accomplishment is meaningless but some of the Patriots are probably questioning if it means anything.  Maybe after some time passes, it'll be easier for them to come to terms with.  Perhaps not though.   :dunno

Belichick showed his class at the end though.

the patriots are like the yankees.  anything but a superbowl/championship is a bad season.

18-1 is a great year, and even though the Giants won the superbowl I take nothing away from the Pats year.

Maybe to you.  Many people here spent most of their lives watching the Patriots go 4-12 every year.  Not all that long ago they were one signature away from going to St Louis, they were being sued for sexual harrassment by a reporter, and they had by far the worst stadium in pro sports with very little parking.  The "Yankees" Patriots are only about 7 years old and they were consistently terrible until about 14 years ago.  They were a laughing stock franchise for most of the forty years before Kraft bought the team.
