Title: Need help setting B+ on Pentranic 1525 monitor
Post by: Grauwulf on January 29, 2008, 07:09:50 pm
Hey all, I have a Pentranic 1525 monitor here that I finally managed to get working, but I would like to check and adjust the B+. I know someone has been messing around with every single knob on this thing. I have the schematics, but they don't show the B+ value anywhere on them, or show a point to test it. Can anyone get me pointed in the right direction? This is a CH288 chassis BTW.

Thanks!

varies somewhat per mfg .   regulated B+ still likely NOT to exceed 130V.

smps in this unit ??

Yes, it is a SMPS monitor. There isn't even a B+ test point that I can find so that I can see where it is.

with pwr OFF, take a continuity test from the collector of the h out xistor to the diodes in the supply .
eventually, you will find the main B+ rectifier . this can be ur test point...

some mfgrs don't want just anyone pokin' around their chassis's  ;D

If they didn't want anyone messing with it, they should have glued the damn adjustment pot in place. *lol*

Thanks for your help.

First off Pentranic... or Makvision??

If Pentranic the 15 would have indicated an SVGA chassis, the 25 is the size in inches... don't think so they never did an SVGA 25" that I know.

Makvision, the 15 means - 15Khz, (standard res) and again the 25 is the size.

I am pretty sure you have a standard res chassis, it has a grey plastic frame and is about 10x8 inches, rough guess.

Oh if so, D501 cathode with a crosshatch 113~115 volts DC.

By all means if you ever have occasion to drift from St. Thomas towards Kitchener, give me a call if you would like to drop by the factory.

Good Luck

The monitor is branded Makvision, but the chassis is silkscreened Pentranic. It is a 15khz 25" monitor with chassis CH288. I will get it back up on the bench and check what the B+ is. I tweaked it to get the best looking picture I could, but I would really like to know what it's set at.

I will certainly take you up on your tour offer some day Rick, I'm out of work right now, so it would be a nice way to spend a few hours of an afternoon. :)
