I'd like to find a pinball forum like this one or the one over at KLOV. I'm really digging my two pins (Class of 1812 and Jurassic Park) and would like to get more understanding on repairs and whatnot and such and such, etc.

USENET newsgroup: rec.games.pinball

RGP is flying rapidly downhill down the drain. It's more infighting than it is pinball now.

Spanish.

There's a pinball forum at www.vendoramusements.com
There's also an Australian pinball forum.

That's why I'm using TROLLKILLER now to weed those out since I access through Google Groups.

I do too... Google isn't popping up anything useful. Could you point me to a page for that?
EDIT: found it (http://www.source9.com/trollkiller.html)... sadly, seems to be for IE only, and I use FireFox.

I just can't get into the google groups boards. I've just accepted the fact that there is a small handful of highly qualified pinheads between here and KLOV and that is enough for me.

Hah... did you buy those machines from a guy in Springfield, MO?
If so, say hello to my old games for me. If not, that's a weird coincidence.
Nope.

I have never been able to get registered at KLOV. I set up login at KLOV itself, then you try to register at the forum, and it brings you to that "you must sign up through a sponsor site" page... which, I did, I logged into KLOV and then tried to register on the forum coming in via the KLOV URL... still, no dice.

I remember having trouble signing up. I was given this link and had no problems.

For FireFox, I've been using greasemonkey with the Google Groups Killfile script to survive the last few months of RGP drama.

What! So now I'm just some "guy"? It didn't take you long to forget your friends in MO.
I still have both of those pins. They are getting regular play, and I've even fixed most of the chewing gum and bailing wire hacks the previous owner did to them. ;D
I also thought it was more than strange that cowbell and I had the same pins. I bet he doesn't have a 280zzzap and a Starfighter cabinet though.

NO WAY! You have a 280zzzap and Starfighter? Me Too! ;)
PS: Ha ha! You have Pinballjim's sloppy seconds. :laugh2:

I think it's time for a Pinball section here.
But so far all my suggestions for sections were flushed down the toilet within seconds .....

There are versions of TROLLKILLER for both IE and Firefox now!

Just posted this on RGP... but it applies here too.
FYI - it seems to have changed a number of default behaviours for Firefox. Right click dialogs within the content pane, cut and paste, etc were all changed once I installed Trollkiller. The normal behaviours were all restored when I uninstalled it. This addon seems to be doing more than just parsing google groups.

What version of Windows and Firefox are you running? We have not seen this happen, but we can troubleshoot and fix with some more info.
Thanks,

You mean flushed down the Rebound cab!

Hey dickweed... all I told Cowbell to do was rebuild his flippers and learn to test a diode. Really bad advice there. ::)
If you're going to start being your actual self again do us all a favor and leave before you get yourself banned one more time.

I think a pinball forum would be great - it's only natural that a lot of us hook up a gameroom with more than just video games. I personally have a English Mark Darts and a claw machine in addition to my vids, and a pin is in the future...
-
A pinball forum here would consist of people posting that they have a dead one in the garage and want a hand holding explanation for how to fix it...
So, what's wrong with that ? That's what a forum is all about IMHO.
I don't want to mess with old-fashioned newsgroups things where 2/3 of the messages is crap/spam.
I'm a videogame lover that wants to learn about pins too, and I'm pretty sure there are a number of us here. A pin section here would spare us from comments like yours....
If you are too "good" for all this, you are not required to add anything useful.
Also, what makes you think we would want to discuss only the new pins ? Wether they are crap or not there's a ton of "old" machines out there that are affordable if you know how to fix some stuff. I can't afford a new Stern even if I wanted one.
-
a pin sub forum would be a nice addition as there does seem to be more and more people snagging pins for their home / gameroom etc
I started out with 1 jamma cab that I mamed, I now have 2 pinballs (picking up 3rd next week), 5 electronic fruit machine, 2 mechanical fruit machines, 2 coin pushers, 1 gun video cabinet, 2 jamma cabs, and a change machine (sure there is more)
the pinballs I have worked on so far I have had to rely on common sense to get sorted (1979 zaccaria aerobatics and bally NBA fastbreak) the machine I am going to pick up (addams family) I know needs a lot more work and I would welcome an area here purely for pinball
