I just received a new arcadevga PCI card for my mame machine that consists of a PC monitor that's mounted vertically. My frontend is Mamewah. I rotated the arcadevga 90 degrees right using the ati utility so that windows looks "oriented" correctly. My vertical resolution is 480x640. I start Mamewah and the game selection looks menu looks great. When I pick any vertical game (pacman, donkey kong, frogger, etc) it doesn't look right. The vertical games are skinny and tall. It's not filling "stretching" the screen properly. I have a second mame machine that has this same exact setup except I use it as a dedicated horizontal mame machine. If I try to run vertcial games on the horizontal monitor they appear tall and skinny but I understand that due to the horizontal monitor. I don't get why the vertical games are tall and skinny on a vertical monitor. I've looked at every .ini file and I don't see a solution.
Anybody have any suggestions? I appreciate the help.
Thanks

Suggestion:
Dont use the GFX hardware utility to switch things. MAME and MALA have their own internal things for this. Since you are making windows fit into a rotated view you may be confusing MAME. Make the ATI setting go back to horizontal, and use MAME and MALA settings to make things be vertical...
Basically, start with the thing you need (MAME) then work your way out... Just try it with everything else being "horizontal/origonal" but with MAME set the other way.
EDIT: Sorry, MAMEwah, not MALA

Thanks for your suggestions. Actually, that's what I changed in the last hour. I'm running windows and Mamewah in a horizontal position even though I'm using a vertical monitor. The vertical games now look awesome (after changing mame.ini rol=1, rotate game screen to the left). Here's my problem, I have to view Mamewah in the horizontal position (meaning I have to crank my head) to see which game to choose from the menu. There is no way to "flip" mamewah from what I can tell. I wish there was a way to rotate Mamewah.
I can't believe that I can't run everything in a vertical position on a vertical monitor. How does anyone with a vertical monitor run mame?
Thanks

There is. MAMEwah wouldnt be popular if there wasnt a way to do that. I use mala and it is in the interface that allows it. As I said, MAMEwah wouldnt even be known if it didnt allow for a rotation. Im sure someone will help you out about it. (Not me, I am a MALA loser :P) Atleast you got MAME to work good tho :D
