Title: Idea - LCD/LED marquee - feasible?
Post by: Shoegazer on January 27, 2008, 08:26:51 am
It dawned on me that if the costs of producing LED/LCD panels in relatively low volume were to decrease to the point where this could be done, it would be mighty cool to have the actual marquee shown above your MAME cab for any given selected game.  What do y'all think?

Check out this thread.  It's a great idea and RandyT has done it.   :)

Wow - nice.  The innovative RandyT strikes again.  I did a quick search before but should have looked further.. ;)

Notwithstanding the "B" in "BYOAC" - it would be nice if such a thing could become available commercially for those of us who aren't as inclined to take on the project individually.  Also, considering that (my guess) 90% of marquees are the same standard size, perhaps in the future a panel fitting that size could be purchased.

Unlikely..... At least not at a realistic price. I can't see many applications for a 24" X 6" Panel.

There are companies who will cut an LCD Panel down to size.... However! the problem is that it costs several thousand to have them do it.
