. . . and I typically think SUVs are the fugliest things on the planet and wouldn't want to drive them if they got 1000 MPG. But this Hummer concept that is apparently going to be made is pretty ---smurfing--- cool. (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/08/detroit-2008-hummer-hx-concept/) On a side-note, it also looks like a little bit like it was pulled directly out of Halo . . . :)
-
i saw this on a news story about hybrids at the (detroit?) motor show. but when they showed the hummer, they glossed over what it was so i assumed it was just a slightly smaller hummer and that was their take on 'eco-friendly'!!
and now i read that article, it looks like i was right ;) a 304hp pretty boy SUV is not my definition of eco friendly...
looks cool though... (i bet at least one of the designers had a tamiya when they were young and wished there was a full sized version)
-
This is still a concept though. Most cars look a lot more "normal" when they finally are allowed on the road.
-
That's look pretty cool.
But I still think this is the baddest SUV ever.

While that is nice I prefer the Jeep Hurricane (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.diseno-art.com/images/jeep_hurricane_c.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.diseno-art.com/encyclopedia/concept_cars/jeep_hurricane.html&h=338&w=400&sz=31&tbnid=qgb8HYx53mwFDM:&tbnh=105&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Djeep%2Bhurricane%26um%3D1&start=3&sa=X&oi=images&ct=image&cd=3)

Well THAT makes my Cherokee look like a Model T...

Nothing beats a Lamborghini :D

That's excellent. Not many people realize that Lamborghini builds tractors.
A sort of relative (Godmother's brother in-law?) of my wife has one very similar to this. Only in really good condition.

good god! the wheels are filthy! cant go shopping with it like that, might get my designer jeans dirty...

actually, if you want a big AND fast 4wd and to hell with the environment i dont think you can overlook DAF:

twin engined, twin turbocharged, each engine was 11 litres!
here you can see it overtaking a rally car. i think patrickl and level will have a soft spot for the ol DAF too (",)
same speed as the lambo, but the daf can just run straight over the top of it ;D

Yeah those were amazing. Sad they cripled the truck class so they cannot really compete anymore. Although a DAF truck did get the navigator killed, so it's probably for the best that they don't go so fast anymore.
The new trucks are cool too. The new Ginaf trucks have independent suspension so they don't bounce over the dunes like the fixed axle trucks, but go over it like a regular car. It's amazing to see how those things go over huge bumps at speed.
Actually the old DAF cars were cool too (they looked a bit like a dutch version of the trabant). They were slow driving forwards, but they could go just as fast backwards as forwards. It started a whole new race class of people racing backwards ::)
The Porshce 959 was a pretty cool desert racer too:

yep, my uncle had one of those. infinitely variable gearbox. hence the same speed forwards or backwards. shame it wasnt reliable...

Christ Almighty! That is a monster!
String a bunch of them together and you have the Mammoth Car from Speed Racer!

This is still a concept though. Most cars look a lot more "normal" when they finally are allowed on the road.
What's "normal"? Isn't normal just one guy's idea about something? It looks normal to me. New models always look different to us and can be seen as not "normal". The new mustang this year could be seen as not "normal" looking. It's just new and something we have never seen before.

"normal" is a lot of things. Just compare concept cars and their final road going version. You'll see that the final version looks a lot more "normal" than the concept.

methinks that patrickl needs to google "jerry seinfeld"
;D
-
Lol I know who that is. To be honest I always thought Seinfeld was the least funny character on that show. Especially the stand-up bits were less fun than a commercial break. I guess that's why I missed the "humor".
-
Yeah, Kramer and George definitely were funnier..
That time George had just got out of the pool and Jerry's GF walked in on him changing..
Hilarious.
Oh wait, Im getting way off topic here.. Sorry..
