Looking for an old starwars yoke, condition isn't particularily important, but better working than not, Im looking to take a complete set of measurements from this so it does need to be complete. Better from the Uk for postage, but will pay from anywhere else as long as P&P isnt too insane. Let me know.

Isn't all the measurement info needed already out there?
-
If so where?
-
Are you talking about the monitor yoke? I have a spare from a 25" monitor.
-
Actually I was refering to the controller. I cant figure out the actual measurements from the diagrams I have. I have a company that has recently produced me some steel control panels for my cab that is willing to reproduce the controller for me if I can get them one to work from. As I want to produce a "fitting" yoke controller for my cab I would need to reproduce it as I feel it would be almost "blasphemous" to destroy one of the original controllers.

something in this statement makes me suspicious, that this yoke will not end up black :)
any possibility of other uk dudes getting one maybe :D

Just so that you know, this statement has an entirely different meaning on this side of the pond--quite usually related to avoiding run-ins with the bicycle bar.

So you're not the only one that got that from his statement...

ha ha!
I had better not say anything about smoking ---daisies--- in that case too then ;D

btw, I see incomplete old yokes going on ebay for 90 - 250 bucks... I think you will have some trouble finding someone willing to give you one.
On that note. Anyone have any handles for sale?
-
The last yoke I saw on Ebay went for £35. Thats only about $70 which is "naff all". I think you just might have overpayed for yours considering its missing the handles! I dont see why anyone wouldnt be willing to cough up a yoke for a good cause. I have found people are pretty generous to other "Cab Junkies" on the forum. Not that it matters too much as I am pretty close to completion of my home built. The project just wont be much use to anyone else :(.
-
He's right - even a project yoke is worth well over $100. A SW yoke isn't something you're going to get as a project donation. Nice complete yokes go in the $200-300 range regularly. If you saw one for $70 you should have snagged it - that was a steal.
-
If you do get one, please post full cad spec drawings on the wiki for the rest of us.
-
That was the plan. I wanted to get the yokes structure cloned. Front chasis, rear chasis and support arm. I was going to get it done in plated steel but I think its a "no go" getting hold of one. Wish I had picked one up in the early days before the prices went crazy. I just didnt have the ability them :'(
They manual diagrams are pretty good but its really kind of trial and error with the structure. I have been building a project yoke around menaces "How to" but have found that some of the "structural" info cant be applied due to my chosen material.
No halm in trying :dunno

I believe most of this information is out there. I don't remember where, but I've seen them before.
I would personally love to see someone put up motion specs for everything instead. Total angle of motion. Amount of weight and spring (not that I know how to measure that).. Size between handles. Ect..
why? Its been shown that to reproduce a starwars controller costs about 250 bucks + to do it right.
The question is. If you used off the shelf pieces from home depot or whereever. Could someone build one for 40 bucks that would act nearly identical? not just look the part, but have the same feel? (how often do you look at the controllers when your in the middle of the game?).
Even some of the non-starwars yokes don't play the same.
I know that the pvc starwars yokes came closish in angle rotation. But I bet we could do better.
I'm guessing with a project box, a few lazy susans of different sizes. ect... someone could make something that was free moving and works great. Now how can we make one that feels right!
