It's been a few years since I did any serious work on my cabinet but felt it was about time - I have just applied the sideart and new marquee. 'Finished' is in quotes as these projects are never really finished are they ;) Still to do:
Design/print/apply joystick control panel overlay,
Fit Ultrastik to analog panel, and artwork as above,
Build yoke panel,
Fix xbox (had it running sweet then HDD started playing up),
Check speakers (sound a bit distorted),
Check pedals (work digitally but play up when used as analog, they used to work fine).
Finish some of the software side, screenshots/movies etc.
But anyway here are a few pics...not the greatest but will take some more at some point.
Edit: here is the original thread I posted when building it: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=18812.0
Edit: Have now added a dedicated page to my website (with more PICS): http://mamewah.mameworld.net/mycabinet.htm

That looks really good - more pics of the cab, please.
EDIT: duh, there's a project thread link.

Thanks! I will post some more any way as I think some of the original pics are removed or defunct where I kept changing things...thus this new thread to keep it a bit tidier.

Why I oughta!
Don't worry it's not the first time I've heard that ;-)

Yeah, it predates most of my favourite games too, but it's probably the most played game with that control panel so far!

Nice looking cab. Looks like it may get a little cramped going through that hallway 'eh?
-
The cabinet looks great, any chance of supplying dimensions for the cabinet ? I've been after a System 1 cab for YEARS.
Also that sideart ROCKS, where'd you get it from ?
Great stuff and thanks for sharing

As someone kinda said above, really nice Atari theme going on here. 8)
Just 1 question from a newbie tho, you have listed 4 different CPs. I take it you can interchange these? How do you do that? as I am thinking about doing this on my cab

Thanks...yes a little bit but the door in the background is only a cupboard, and we don't use the front door which I don't think you can quite see from the pic.

Yes I can but beware it is not an exact copy of a System 1. I know the height and some of the other main dimensions are the same, but some of the angles etc. are probably not. I chose the dimensions around the screen/controls etc that I wanted to use.
Also that sideart ROCKS, where'd you get it from ?
Thank you, I designed it myself and had it printed by MameMarquees - extremely happy with it!

Yes they have to be swapped over. Each panel is clamped into place using clamps (not sure the exact term). To do this I have to access the underside of the CP from the coin door and the front door (bit of a pain, but not really neccessary for the joystick panel).
I use molex connectors on the cables to connect up the buttons/joysticks (on/off inputs to IPAC). Some of the panels require a USB lead to be plugged in also.

I'd be happy with ANY measurements of a System 1 cab, I'd like to do 3 of them (dedicated) so anything would be awesome :applaud:
Also, I LOVE your artwork more than the original Atari one, plan on selling it ?

I can tell you it's 178cm tall & 60cm wide from memory. As for the other dimensions, I would have to dig out the plans...might be easier said than done. I can't quite remember where I put them but I will have a look at my parents house next time I am there, they must be in my old room...

I wasn't planning on selling it, but if you insist... ;-)
Only joking, I'm happy to give you the artwork files, so long as you're not planning on selling it!

I'm not old enough to really know what a system1 is, and I'm too lazy to klov it, but I just wanted to say it looks damn awesome. The art really sets it off. I love the shape, definitely something I will keep in mind for future projects.....now make with the measurements! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Well I am guessing that if you can provide the artwork files then that would make it easy to get the measurements for the sides :applaud:
Also I'd never sell someone else's artwork (or pass it on without your permission)
I'll PM you with my e-mail address
Man that artwork kicks ass :applaud:

Great cab, I love that side art. :notworthy:

I have added a link to my original post now, which goes to a webpage with more pics & info.

Amazing job Miniwah. Truely inspiring cab. Also have to add "kudos" on the sideart. Could of picked a better frontend though :laugh2:
(Bet you haven't heard that one before!)
Quick question for you. What angle is your stearing wheel mount at. I've been planing a steering assembly for my cab but can't seem to find a comfortable angle for it. Your CP's angle seems very similar to mine.
-
excellent side art (",) . im guessing thats not how they originally were?

Good question! I think I went for a bit of a guestimate for the steering mounting box...it turned out well. I could try to measure it for you...it will not be 100% accurate but should give you an idea!

No, but it was generic (I prefer mine!):

Minwah,
your side art creation trumps the original 10 fold.
:applaud:

Nice sideart! The only problem is your shifter is on the wrong side!
;D
Crazy Brits, driving on the wrong side of the road, with shifters on the wrong side...
