Probably 3:10 to Yuma, although I watched to original the night before I saw the new one and got a big group of friends to go see a sneak preview of it, so it was a fun night in general which may color my opinion of it a bit.  I've heard good things about the Assassination of Jesse James, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet.

yes, circumstances sometimes colour the enjoyment. this is why i can be sure michael clayton was great, having watched it on two seperste occasions.

you know, i dont think '3:10 to yuma' has been released here yet so i would think of it as a 2008 movie! funny how it goes, 'cloverfield' for instance was released a day earlier here than in the US!

Another vote for Michael Clayton.  Although I didn't see too many movies last year...

Some of you may think I am crazy, but Transformers was my favorite movie. I saw it in the theaters, and have watched it on dvd 4 times. Right after I watched it, I wanted to watch it again. I love movies like that.

Wow, surprisingly I saw 7 of those top 10 movies, one way or another.

Of those top ten I'd probably say the top two were the ones I enjoyed most.  I am Legend was cool until the end killed it, The Simpsons Movie and Transformers were disappointing, and Shrek The Third was so bad I barely remember it.

Stardust!  Totally up there as my #1.  Transformers isn't far behind.

good link pinball (",) refreshing my memory with that list.

enjoyed:

ratatouille
little miss sunshine (steve carroll was surprisingly brilliant in ti)
bourne ultimatum
shooter
zodiac
meet the robinsons
sunshine
stardust
death at a funeral
eastern promises (if you havent seen it, rent it now!)
beowulf

dissapointments:

perfect stranger
the reaping
28 weeks later. not bad as such, but the first was brilliant.
pirates of the blah
1408
superbad (it was exactly that)
alien v predator (not surprising really)

surprised (i go to see movies even if i think theyll blow, sometimes they are surprisingly good!):

reno911:miami was fun (",)
transformers
disturbia
knocked up
even almighty
blow hard IV (so silly i enjoyed it)
the game plan (the rock is a really good actor!)

i saw more movies than that, but some where so-so like 30 days of night and lions for lambs. others in that wiki list have only come out this year here on the big screen like american ganster.

I perused the list of 2007 movies at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_in_film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_in_film) and here are my ratings, on a scale of 1 to 4:

300  ****
Ratatouille  ****
I am Legend  *
The Bourne Ultimatum  **
The Simpsons Movie  **
Transformers  **
Spider-Man 3  **
Shrek the Third  *
PotC: At World's End  *
Harry PotterL OotP:  **

Hannibal Rising  ** (barely)
Ghost Rider  ** (again, barely)
The Astronaut Farmer  **

Reign Over Me  **
Blades of Glory  *
Grindhouse  ***
Disturbia  **
Next  *
Waitress  ***/****
Lucky You  **

My favorite was probably 300. So many 2007 movies I still want to see though...Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Juno, Into the Wild, Sunshine, Stardust, Good Luck Chuck, The Darjeeling Limited, Gone Baby Gone, 30 Days of Night, American Gangster, Fred Claus, Love In the Time of Cholera, Atonement, Charlie Wilson's War, Sweeney Todd...jeez, I have a lot of movie watching to do.

I just watched 3:10 to Yuma this weekend...wow, what a GREAT movie.  I haven't seen a good western in ages, and that movie really was great.

I just saw the preview again last night for Sunshine. Who all has seen it and is it a must rent?

Reading the 2007 list, it's surprising how many movies I saw this year.  I would have never thought that....

I was surprised too... but if I think about it, only a couple were in the theater.  Harry Potter and I Am Legend, maybe Shrek The Third with the kids.

The only movies I saw in the theater were Transformers and Enchanted. Enchanted was surprisingly pretty damn funny.

I thought Sunshine was good, but not great.  It reminded me a lot of Event Horizon, and if you enjoyed EH you will probably enjoy Sunshine.

Event Horizon....(insert puking emoticon here)

I guess I'll skip this one then. I have liked all of Danny Boyle's movies though.

Yep, exactly my thoughts on it - throw in a touch of Alien and a dash of 2001 / 2010 and you've got Sunshine.

Not a must see unless you're into that sort of movie, and definately NOT a thrill a minute action sci fi movie.  I liked it.

Dude are you serious?  That was the biggest pile of mainstream crap ever.  It was product placement everywhere you looked.  A lame ass story. Lame robots. Horrible dialog.

The scene the takes the cake was when John Turturro  was "lubricated" on by one of the robots. Really?  That was like a joke for a 4 year old.

I haven't seen something that bad since Final Destination 3.  Which by the way, you must see to beleive.

I'd say the best movie is a toss up between No Country and There Will Be Blood.

I haven't seen There Will Be Blood yet (it hasn't had a wide release), but I have heard a lot of good things about it.

Oh, I know. I had no intentions of liking it when I went to see it after reading the thoughts here. I just can't help it no matter how silly it is, I was just really entertained by it. Isn't that what movies are about? Being Entertained? If I want to be educated, I'll watch PBS.

I don't think there were any movies in 2007 that really grabbed me. I saw a lot of them though.

The GF was rather taken by Atonement (she even shed a tear), but I found it kinda boring. I love the Bourne series and Bourne Ultimatum was actually pretty good.

In the weird but nice category I liked Hot Fuzz and Death at a Funeral. Maybe Stardust fits in that category too.

Live Free or Die Hard , Transformers, The Simpsons and I am Legend were entertaining, but not really great.

I liked Disturbia, but it's one of those movies where you want them to settle down because their overly freaking out is giving you a heart attack.

No one voting for The King of Kong?  :P

i was watching a simpsons re-run the other night and realised that disturbia is a rip off of one of their episodes. the one where bart breaks his leg and is stuck in doors. he is given a telescope and believes he sees ned kill his wife  ;D

No, they are all rip-offs of this classic:

Wasn't the Simpsons skit a Halloween episode?  They do a lot of tributes to old horror movies at Halloween.

I'm not sure why it matters that Disturbia is based on the idea of a fifties movie.

I just saw No Country for Old Men.  It has my vote for best, but I've yet to see There Will be Blood, Sweeney Todd, Juno or Atonement.  I bittorrented excellent copies of the latter two, and my wife loved Atonement.  I should point out, BTW, that the Coen Brothers have been my favorite directors for over a decade, so I am already predisposed to the type of stuff they put out.  My wife liked No Country for Old Men, but not quite as much as me and I had to tie up some loose ends for her afterward . . . parts of the story that were told through small details rather than the director leading you by the hand through everything.

Ratatouille was excellent . . . only behind Toy Story and Monster's Inc. as Pixar's best.  I've seen it at least a dozen times (it's my little girl's favorite movie) and every single time I notice something new.  For example, when Remy is running from Chef Skinner with Gousteau's will they pass a street-performing mime who you might recognize as Bomb Voyage, a villain from the beginning of The Incredibles (oh yeah . . . that's another great.  Hard to say which is better between Ratatouille and The Incredibles).

3:10 to Yuma is another that I caught recently and liked a lot.  It isn't common that someone can pull off a movie in a relatively family-friendly way that by it's nature requires a good deal of violence.  3:10 is an action movie custom-made for Chad.  Good show.  Oh . . . and speaking of action movies, Bourne Ultimatum was an excellent addition to one of the best action franchises ever made.

Transformers is probably the worst movie I've seen in the last few years.  I would never watch it again unless paid.  Well.

I was sorely disappointed with Futurama.  Rather loved Superbad.  Haven't seen Knocked Up yet, but I got it and suspect that I will like it very much.  Oh yeah, and take Patrick's advice.  See Hot Fuzz.  It's not a porno.  It's a hilarious action movie from the guy who brought you Shawn of the Dead.

saw sweeney todd the other night. it was great! im not into musicals, but it has helena bonhom carter and jonny depp. say no more...

hot fuzz was good. but im looking forward to run, fatboy run. kinda hoping for a little LESS zombie ;-) and it has hank azaria. and he has such a hot body  erm, i mean i love him in the simpsons...

all these movies i saw on the big screen. i suspect some of you may be dissappointed by certain movies when you download it and watch it at home. films like transformers i wouldnt ever both except on the big screen.

shmokes, i suspect you will like atonement a lot. i did, it isnt hollywood saccharin which is refreshing.

My picks for 2007

1.) Bridge to Terabithia - yes, I'm still in love with it.  Just perfect.  Saw 3 times at the theater, cried through the last 30 minutes every damn time.  Have watched the DVD several times, same thing.  Robert Patrick is a marvel in this film and I still say he should have a nod as best supporting actor for it.  (edited for next comment) While I'm at it, Zooey Deschanel's beautiful haunting voice as their music teacher (she was the love interest in Elf if the name doesn't ring a bell) only adds to the moments - not to mention that she's as beautiful in this film as she was in Elf.

2) Ratatouille - Is there anything that Pixar can't do?  I thought this one and Cars would both be duds, and both turned out to be absolutely amazing.  Those guys are incredible...and now I find myself just waiting to see what's next  (hopefully an Incredibles 2 is around the bend somewhere :D)

3). Transformers - I've got to second Sharidan's comments - 'nuff said.

4)  300 - This one surprised my wife and I. We are not - by nature- fans of war films, but we found it to be absolutely elegant. Left us breathless.

I didn't like Cars.  The whole time I couldn't help thinking, "Hey Pixar.  Doc Hollywood called.  He wants his script back."
