Have not completed much yet. I just gutted the encoder and mapped out the keyboard matrix. Still looking for a viable cabinet  and arrival of Joysticks (2) and buttons (20).

As of now I still need to pick up a couple more parts from radio shack before I can start fiddling with the buttons and joysticks.
Computer Choice:
P4 2.8ghz
1 gig ram
Radeon 9800pro
80 gig 7200rpm hd
I have a couple spare monitors ranging in size. Have not made the decision on the monitor yet due to the lack of cabinet.
The machine itself is a tad overkill for the project but has been collecting dust for a few years might as well put it to use.
Progress will be inherently slow because I am headed back to university in a few days.
Cheers,
Jujum4n

Good start man! keep up the good work and the good documentation. I am excited to see how this goes. Keep your eyes on craigslist or bst here on the forums for a cab. Once it starts to warm up around here im sure you will see a few more cabs popping up (people getting back into the garage this spring/summer and realizing that they will never do anything with the cab's and that they need the space back).
/edit.. I dont think you are having problems with that unknown keystrokes I think thats common. Is there not only 103-106 keys on a keyboard? I think you have all the keystrokes covered. Maybe not im just glancing over it.
Take care,
Neil

Thanks for the kind words :) I have been a bit busy adjusting myself back to life at university and now have a break to start working on my project a bit more. Going to start messing around with my spare computer right about now. I almost scored an old Dig dug cabinet for 80 dollars but he sold it before I could pick it up :'(
Like you said I'm sure there will be more cabinets when temps are warmer for sure.
Cheers,

You're going to be very disappointed in that keyboard hack. Very soon, you'll learn all about ghosting. Spend the $22 and get a good encoder (http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76_80&products_id=200) - that's the main interface for your arcade, all your controls, and how responsive they are, go through it. That's one of the main places not to skimp...
