So, I am planning on using a decased 24" Toshiba tv as my arcade monitor. The TV doesn't fit when cased. More on that later.
The 4 small mounting brackets that are attached to the (decased) TV are at the corners. The problem is that the brackets aren't flush with the back or the front of the TV. So, simply putting 2x4's across (inside the cabinet) to attach the monitor won't work. I think I would need to put something at 45 degree angles for each bracket. The other thing that concerns me, is that brackets are pretty small.
The mounting brackets are 21" across from each other. The space in the cabinet is 24". The cabinet is an old Atari cab (particle board).
Now my other option is to keep the front part of the case attached to the tv. Then saw about an inch off of each side of the case. But, not having the back of the case on will be a problem. Since I need to mount the TV back on an angle, there will be too much weight pushing down on the logic board. Plus the case will bend. So, I would still need a way to secure the front.
Basically, I am kinda stuck on what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if you cant make it fit with the trimmed case on it, IMO - ditch it for this idea. Those brackets do look pretty small, and I would be afraid of relying on the old particle board to hold it. If you could create a new wood bezel that could handle the angle problem, I would think that to be ok. For whatever reason, I didn't understand the angle issue - so this may make no sense. It's also late.

There has to be a way to to use this bad boy. I like the bezel idea that Daniel B. had. You could make the outer dimensions the exact size to fit your cab and the inner size to fit the monitor. I'd use plywood for that tho, it being stronger for the tabs to bolt too. Maybe you could make a couple out of cardboard to get a idea on what you need ?

Thanks for the replies. I called a a local guy that fixes arcades and picked up a monitor mount/frame. So, now I should be able to put a 2x4 straight acroos the cabinet to mount the frame to. Now I am trying to figure out the best way to mount the 2x4 across..but I have some ideas.

Thanks for the replies. I called a a local guy that fixes arcades and picked up a monitor mount/frame. So, now I should be able to put a 2x4 straight acroos the cabinet to mount the frame to. Now I am trying to figure out the best way to mount the 2x4 across..but I have some ideas.
Wood glue might be the simple answer to secure pieces to each side of the cab without needing screws through the outside of the cabinet to mount the cross member to.
You could glue, clamp, and wait reasonable period and the joint created would be more than strong enough without screw support.

I've found another possible solution for mounting the monitor:

I might build it as one whole assembly which would allow me to safely remove the whole thing easily.

The wooden surround with the handles is how my generic Dynamo cab was made. The cool thing is that the wooden monitor mount is square, so you can spin the monitor from horizontal to vertical in minutes.

Quick question: How did you mount it to the cab?
Mine is bolted in from the sides as I later covered the sides with laminate, you could easily use the same sort of frame and drill holes all the way round it then screw it to your cabinet, just make sure that the back of the monitor is supported.

When you say make sure the back of the monitor is supported what exactly are you referring to? The back of the glass or where the electronics are held.
