Title: Programming shift keys for IPAC4.
Post by: Dazz on January 20, 2008, 12:45:42 am
Hey Guys,

I've got an IPAC4 and I am trying to program player 3 start (shift) + player 4 start buttons to perform an ESCAPE.  When programmed using player 1 start + player 2 start ESC works correctly.  However, the player 3 start + player 4 start combo does not work.  Can you not program this button combo to ESC?  I am very familiar with programing the IPAC and I know that I am programming it correctly.   Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have had similar issues with different i-pacs. I don't know if it's a software or hardware issue, but sometimes it won't allow me to re-assign the shift key to another button, or if it does, it doesn't always work properly.

What get's me is that the Player 3 button works just fine as a shift button.  It works perfectly fine using player 3 start + 3SW1 and 4SW1 to enter coins for those players.  It just will not perform an ESC if I program 4 player (shifted) start with ESC.  The programming accepts normally, but when pressed it just doesn't work.

I think I'll shoot Andy an email and see what he suggests.

I have answered by email, but, on the I-PAC 4 there are two shift buttons. The Start1 (by default) affects player 1 and 2 controls. Start 3 affects player 3 and 4 controls.

In my email I did state player 1 start + player 4 start on accident, but that is not what I really meant.  My original message above does state player 3 start + player 4 start for ESC.  This combo does not work.

When I get home from the office this evening I am going to try to program player 1 start with another player 1 input for ESC and see if that combination works.  If it does then I'll forget my player 3 + 4 idea.
