Title: One button startup electrical details
Post by: Greenskein on January 16, 2008, 09:02:16 pm
Here's a quick plan of how you can turn on your whole cabinet with the push of one button.

Note:  Not shown in this file, but for the actual "On" button, I usually take apart the PC faceplate, and extend the wiring that goes from the start button to a new button that I locate somewhere out of the way on the cabinet (like on the top, or on the bottom of the CP).  Another helpful item is to also extend the PC's "reset" button so that if mame or your pc ever hangs somewhere, you can easily reset the PC without opening up the cabinet....

Thanks dude - i've been hunting for this for a few weeks now.  Do you have a part number for the 12V DC Relay?

Here is a relay you can use

and here is the socket that goes to it. Use the socket it is safer that crimping or soldering to the bottom. Contacts are rated at 10 amps which is plenty for everything for an arcade cab.

This is very similar to the spystyle power strip. I ended up using the spystyle tutorial for my cab instead of buying the bits limited strip.
