just added some colors to my cp and wanted to get some feedback. initially i was gonna do a black and pure blue scheme but i noticed that happs pushbuttons are sorta lighter than what i wanted. i then decided to make the neogeo buttons follow the arcade scheme, but had to make the top buttons like that as well to make them match. the four buttons above the trackball would be left/right handed mouse buttons. the 6 blue ones are mame controls and the 8 whites are credit/start. havent decided on where the spinner should go. it was gonna go in the center above the ball but that would limit any hard pushes on the ball, so i may have to put it above the player1 controls. any suggestions on color changes or where the spinner can go?

it's huge! :P
you're absolutely right...and i didnt even mention the size yet....54"x20". it was gonna be 48"x20" but i just kept adding more spacing and eventually it came out to be this big.

I agree, that thing will be huge... don't forget the intercom system for the #1 and #4 players to talk to each other ::)
I started out with this mentality as well, then I thought, why make a cab that will do it all, four player controls, seperate 4 way stick, spinner, trackball, trigger stick, starwars yoke, steering wheels, rotating monitor, etc, etc, then my wife made the suggestion that solved all my problems...
"Why don't you just make more cabinets dedicated to each style of games... "
I love my wife... ;D

LOL!! intercom haha! the only problem with making more than one cabinet is that i'm a college student who lives with his parents. the only space i got for this cabinet is where my computer desk is. so i'm gonna be getting rid of the old desk and putting the cabinet in its place. the space seems just enough for the cabinet and a bar stool.

Cut off the top corners and add you some cup/beer holders.

I picked up two cup holders from Happs. They don't fold up, but the are pretty darn sturdy. They hold beer mugs very well, as well a pop cans. Putting them on the side of the cabinet.

I just bought 2 of those and screwed them on a few weeks ago- they are sturdy and are a much smaller eyesore than reg cupholders, IMHO. Highly recommended.

I second (third) that!
I've got the same ones and they are pretty sturdy and accomodate different beverages fairly well... I'm just a sucker for the transformer action, "cupholders transfrom and roll out!"

cp update: i decided to cut this idea down from a 4p to just a basic 2p. i thought about it and realized their arent that many 4player games i play with friends. besides i dont think a 5ft cp is smart planning, pretty sure my mom would agree since it would take up a whole corner of the room. si its probably gonna be the same design without the 2 side setups.

"its huge" its not huge when you have 4 guys shoulder to sholder playing, take my word on it. Wish I had seen something like this when I designed mine. The 4th (or should I say first offset button for Neo-Geo) button is somethign I wish my CP had, maybe add it someday. I did my CP with 4 players and wish I had made I bigger. BUT if you wont be having 4 players very often (from your last post, not at all now), I guess smaller may be better. 4 guys on my CP are bumping shoulders all the time.
Looks good to me ( but I play gauntlet amd Smash TV alot) so 4 player always looks good to me :)

If you're still thinking of a 4-player route, you could move the trackball up to save at least .5 of a foot... and if you don't mind shoulders jostling, you could bring in all the controls closer together.
Of course, if you've decided on 2player you don't have to worry about that anymore...!

I wanted to make a four player panel for a while, but then I realized something. I have never played a 4-player game that had more than two people playing. Not in my entire life. I am not sure if I have ever even seen a four player cabinet anywhere that actually had 4 people playing on it.
