Incredible. :notworthy:
-
Even when I only recognize a quarter of the stuff being shown...... it's the shear craftsmanship that amazes me.
-
A costly tube. Nice work.
However, it becomes pale compared to this:

Ditto!

tnx 4 the added video Level42.
just too bad they didn't include any steps in construction :(

Yeah, and looking back at both, I think that triode tube actually was more work than the CRT. Both nice !
Did you notice the hands of the guy building the tube. That's not a young man. I hope some young people are willing to learn things like this. Doing component repairs on electronics already seems to be getting an old-fashioned craftsmanship.
O and for those who think tubes are obsolete: a quality tube amp sounds a lot better than anything else.

just having the TIME, let alone the equipment of F2FO would be nice .
many hams worldwide will still make some of their own equipment . this ability can be most useful in an emergency
situation....
QRP is alive and well. remember , 1W will travel just as far as 1KW. its just not as LOUD !
ARRL Field Day 2008 will be june 28/29 field day stations are a great way for the public to see Amateur Radio in use . find one and "get on the air" .
see : www.arrl.org for info in the USA

Hey qrz .... where abouts are you located?
My dad is big into the ARRL. He's out of Gladewater/Longview are of TX.
(not sure of his call sign and all that jive)
Interesting stuff for sure.
I've played around with ye ol' citizens band a bit, but that's about it.

Oh yeah, cant beat a tube for the distortion you can get. The pedels are getting close to the same sound tho... I should get a guitar again... And try to learn it this time ;)
-
one reason tube audio sounds so good is tube parameters . when driven to saturation and cutoff , the waveform is stretched rather than the harsh sounding clip as in solidstate.
vacuum tubes are FAR from dead !

Jesus... makes me wish I paid closer attention to the electronics buffs when I was much much younger. :dizzy:
Now they're all dead. :'(

I would love to work in a profession that requires that sort of craftsmanship... software seems to have very little satisfaction to it. I've written very nicely done apps that just don't mean much when all you're holding in your hand is another freakin' CD.

What about building arcades and jukes? I have seen some mighty fine craftsmanship in this forum alone.
Im sure a lot of these projects will be around for our grandkids to admire, or I certainly hope so.

That guy has a WHOLE lot more patience than I do.
But I really liked his primative 2 player super sprint machine at the very end of the movie.
