Title: Gauntlet Legends\Dark Legacy
Post by: Vincent on January 09, 2008, 11:42:41 pm
First of all it's a pleasure to be part of this wonderful hobby and this community where I am sure I will spend many a work hour browsing :)

I've been trying to google up some dimensions for the above cabinet but without luck and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I think the those cabinets look beautiful and would like to base mine around their design.

If not available I'll do my best to replicate it. Thanks in advance.

I have a Legends cabinet, and I agree that it really is a nice looking cabinet.  Now, this is way, way ahead of where you are at in the building phase, but if you can't or don't have the ability to bend the metal like the front, I would recommend using something like 4-6" pvc cut down to create the curve.  Search for Mountain's cabinet thread in project announcements, as he used some pvc to make small curved corners on his control panel.  Just a thought.  Oh, and welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the tips mccoy178 much appreciated. i have had a good look through the project announcements and theres some great projects in there.

I can see this hobby consuming me for the better part of a year, strange forces are at work here :)

I agree I'm probably months away from starting this yet still got a hell of a lot of reading to do :)

I've got one of these sitting ~10ft from my desk, and I'm sure I've done the measurements before on it.  Let me dig through the archives here and see if its still kicking around somewhere...

Here it is...

That post has a PDF attachment that contains some rough sketches of the cabinet and its dimensions.

If you need other measurements, feel free to ask; I'm (still) working on it (gee, only a year later), and can walk over to it with a tape measure for anything you need.

Don't know if I'd call myself a legend, but you're welcome.

BTW... if you need artwork or a CPO for it, let me know.  I've bought a set of side-art last year and just have it sitting here (the side-art on my cab is in awesome shape; purchase was for a spare).  I also know of a vendor that had a CPO last time I asked.

hehe figure of speech, but i do really appreciate those dimensions. I'm not buiding an exact replica Legends cab but basing the one I want to build on that style. It'll probably be slightly different etc but love the angles on that. I used to play it at the cinema all the time and it was the perfect height for me. I might build one in the future though as I love the legends/legacy games.

If you're anywhere close to Houston, a guy there is trying to dump one for $500 with both boardsets

Wish I was, I live in Australia a little bit too far to ship I think :)

Bleargh, I am right in thinking that the speakers are built into the marquee and that it folds back?

You're absolutely correct.

If you look at the Gauntlet Legends page at KLOV (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7926) you'll get a bit of an idea as to what the marquee section looks like.

Its designed so that it folds backwards and (magically) lines up perfectly with the top edges of the left/right sides.

When the marquee is in the upright position, the speakers are mounted on underneath the marquee, facing down towards the CP.  One speaker each side.

Hang on... hey, I do have pictures here... lookee that...  Here's the thread for my build (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=65201.0) (which has languished since last May), which has a few photos at the top of it that'll give you a bit more of an idea as to what it looks like.
