Might be better posted in the monitor/video section..... but holy cow!!
This is insane for a plasma tv.
Panasonic 150" Plasma (http://gizmodo.com/341909/panasonic-150+inch-plasma-display-put-into-perspective-pic)
(I'll take two please, yeah , just load them right up)

Most plasmas are like ovens compared to LCD's. I can't imagine the power consumption and heat output of a plasma that large.
But the super high resolution would mean some pretty sweet CGA arcade graphics if the built-in scaler was decent ;D

WT...? :o
I wonder how much power it needs and, of course, how much it costs :)

Yea .... its ok, but its not the same colour as my DVD player.
I'll pass.

You know what I really want?
Flat screens that don't have ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- up ratios.
That and a 2000" screen.
-
If you really need to see a picture that big, why wouldn't someone with that cash go even bigger?
At which point you'd just get a projector - now even in HD!
-
So if you like your TVs as big as a queen-sized bed and capable of displaying an elephant in actual size [...]
I'd like to know how they figure. Even the smallest elephants (Asian cows) have an average height at the shoulders of nearly 8 feet. African bulls can be 13 feet or more at the shoulders. A 1.77:1 display with a 150" diagonal measurement would have a vertical measurement of about 6' 1.5".

Is that Frank's 2000" TV?
I wonder how much that bad boy weighs? Think it would be safe for the second floor? For that matter...looks like you'd have trouble getting it into a standard door to begin with.

For whatever this thing would cost, if you spent the same money on a projector you'd be better off IMO. You could probably get a commercial grade projector for the large amount of money that I would expect this huge TV to cost.
Its 4K resolution is impressive, but then, there are 4K projectors too (e.g. Sony’s SRX-S110 for $102,000).

It's definitely not a practical application for most. I myself would just assume get a projector. I do however like to see "technology" be used to produce the unheard of, in this case a huge ass plasma screen tv. Do you really think these will be seen on the market for the general public..... nah, I doubt it. Cost, physical size, etc are just beyond practical.

4096x2160 res?
I like the 2160 vertical res; it's 2x 1080 and 3x 720, so no vertical blurring for 720p, 1080i or 1080p. :applaud:
But 4096 horizontal? Why not 3840? 3840 = 1920*2 = 1280 * 3. 4096 results in rectangle pixels, and blurred convertion on the horizontal. :dizzy:
Now we something better than stupid bluray/HD-DVD's 1080p to match the screen. :laugh2:

well, since we'll have to unplug the dryer just to power it, maybe it can dry the clothes while we are watching it!

You'd need a 4K master, or the 4K containers they send to movie theaters that have 4K projectors.

Nice.. sounds like a new arcade project :)
-
My local Newspaper quotes the price as £55,000 Pounds, that's about $100,000 USD
An HD projector is still a better bet unless that price falls to about 10% of what it is now. Even then a projector is more flexible in its application. It also looks more like real cinema than a plasma ever will.
