Title: Dedicated buttons for trackball
Post by: hog1991 on May 14, 2003, 10:28:13 pm
I have seen some CPs (slik stik for instance) that have dedicated buttons for the trackball.

Is that worth it?  It seems to take up alot of space.

A)  Is it awkward using the player 1 or player 2 buttons for trackball games?

B)  Is it necessary to have "dedicated" buttons for the mouse control?

I will be using the Opti Pac and IPac so I can just wire up some of the other buttons to act as mouse buttons also, right?  Anything to be aware of here?

Thanks

If oyu wire both of them up just rmeember you will get a keystroke AND a mouse click.  Kinda annoying when in windows.  I made a switch to switch between the two.

If you've got a place for them to go, they're useful.  I only use mine for actual "mouse clicking", but it's easier for other people to see "Oh, the trackball works as the mouse, and these are the mouse buttons."

I use the same set of play buttons for my 4-way, my 8-way and my trackball and it feels completely comfortable and natural.

I actually wired my trackball buttons up as the player start buttons and credit button as I found that to be the best solution, as many emu's won't let you map mouse clicks, so putting them as normal buttons was right out, but I didn't need start and credit buttons for other emus, so that is what I did.
