How do I get the side art off.. I tried a putty knife and also tried a razor blade.. neither will get the side art to come off. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:..I plan on painting the cab black.. if I prime it first will 3 or 4 coats of black completely over the sticker or will you still be able to tell it is there?

It won't come off with a razor blade? I wouldn't be too worried about the wood underneath. You can skim coat it with some bondo or wood filler.

Hmm, you might try a hair dryer to warm up the sticker first, that might help getting it off. You dont want to get it too hot cause it will burn the plastic.
-
ok.. I got it off using the blade off of an box cutter. I was able to get it flat enough that it came off... Looks like this was a Moon Patrol originally. After I sanded the black paint off the Moon Patrol stencil stayed on pretty good.
-
update pic.. I am tempted to try and restore the Moon patrol art... BUT I dont have the skills to repaint it. :dizzy:
-
What an asinine thing to do to a Moon Patrol....good thing you have saved it. :D
UUhh erm..you are going to save it right? :-\
-
not sure how I can.. the inside is gutted.. nothing left. and I don't think I can restencil that back on it... not sure that I wan't to.
-
Oh well....at least you gave one last moment of glory.
You can get the stencils here (http://www.oleszakcreative.com/store/shop/item.asp?itemid=87) if you by chance did want to restore it.

ok.. I have finished building the control panel.. just waiting on my order from Ultimarc so I can mount the Joysticks. Once that is completed I will paint. I will add some pics when I get home.

How much t molding is on a normal size cab.. I am going to order some new stuff.. just not sure how much to order.. I was thinking that 40 foot would be enough.. .what do you guys think?
-
That is a good question. I have to order some T-moldings soon but I have a larger cabinet. I might just go with 2 colors.
-
ok.. I just ordered my T-molding today... hopefully that won't take long. got my order from Ultimarc (only took two days from London to Texas WOW). I have routed the top mount on the joysticks.. the only question I have is how do you keep the screws from sticking up.
-
How are they sticking up? Got pics? What kind of bolts are you using?

Well personally I would use counter sunk machine screws to bolt it in. Very carefully use an oversize drill bit to make a bevelled hole the screw can "sit" into. Practice on a scrap piece first though to see what size bit is best suited for a flush finish.

That is called a counter sink and they make a special bit for that. I would not try that will a oversized bit as the bit would jump.

got the cab up and working.. will post some pics later.. working on a marquee to get printed and maybe some side art.

Good job. I am still searching for a TV for mine. Hopefully I can have mine up and running soon as well. :applaud:
