Okay, I realized when I got done with my CP cuts that I had screwed up my P2 start button. When I was measuring from the top of my CP, before it was cut out, I happened to measure P2 from a line that I should have erased instead of just x-ing through. The result of this is that my P2 start button sits about 1/2" lower than my P1 start button on the other side of the CP. This looks horrible in my opinion and I'd like to correct this.
I plan on putting a very thin piece of perhaps cardboard over the CP wood top and then have the artwork on that cardboard, then a 1/8" Plexiglass or Lexan top. So the repair work won't be seen when everything is done. I just have no idea what the best way to correct this is.
Should I get some bondo and re-fill the button hole, then let it cure for a few weeks and re-drill the hole in the proper location? Should I use my router and just give a rough extension upward of the drilled hole, slowly fill in the other side with wood putty and just count on the button fitting securely and being held in place by the cardboard/Plexi? Or, should I get a 1 1/8" hole saw and cut out a round peg the size of the messed up hole, put wood glue inside the screwed up hole, fit the peg in, let the glue dry and then re-drill?
What would be the best/easiest/most-effective way of correcting this minor error?

Bondo will work just fine to fill the hole. Best part is it cures in minutes, not weeks.

Sweet. Now this little screw up won't bother me. Time to go get some Bondo. Wal-Mart here I come. ;D

If you put some kind of graphic overlay on top of the holes it will also hide your mistake.

That's the plan. I plan on getting some posterboard to cover the wood itself, then some artwork for on top of the posterboard. On top of that will be a 1/8" layer of Plexiglass/Lexan which will be the final top layer. So I just need something to ensure that the button is secure.

It should be fine, even if you have an open space on one side of the button under the overlay from moving it over the other three sides that are correct should be able to support the button just fine.

Also a very good option. ;)
Or combine A and B. Use the peg to fill most of the hole, and the bondo to cement it in firmly.
