Hi guys,
I just finished this tabletop unit and I thought I'd throw it on the forum for you to have a look. I took a shot at a Pac-Man theme and I'm pretty happy with the results. The button layout looks a little cluttered, but it works great. The joystick is an Ultimarc 4-8 way switchable......Comments? (be nice!)

Looks clean! Good Job!

Thanks Phispac,
Simple and clean is what I was going for. I miss all the trackball games but in this case, size matters!
I forgot to mention that I painted the characters on the sides. I cheated and used an overhead projector, but it open up a whole new world of options at a very small cost.

Looks good - couple questions
1. Whats up with all the buttons? Seems excessive
2. Any thoughts on using a horizontal monitor and vertical monitor artwork?
3. Did you decide against a marquee?
I really like the painted artwork. Nice job.

Thanks for your comments Leapinlew. The 6 buttons across the top from left to right are quarters, 1 start, 2 start, pause, tab, escape. the two clustered on the left are meant for asteroids or a left pinball flipper. The two on the right are and enter button and a right flipper button. The cluster of six buttons next to the joystick are the main focus and will accommodate Mortal combat and just about everything else. I used an I-Pac encoder and that's the fewest buttons I thought I could get away with......
I decided against a marquee purely to keep the size down and it helped accommodate the 17" lcd monitor.
I'm not sure about your monitor artwork question. Are you saying I should add something around my Bezel? I could paint a line of dots and Pac man chasing some ghosts........
-
no he's being anal about the fact that pac man was a vertical monitor game yet you have put pac artwork on a horizontal monitor machine. the fact that you didnt notice means your not bothered about being purist you just want to play games.
i would say.

Knievel,
I have this idea about a "rock Band" cabinet. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Maybe I'll do something with a Peavey stack theme.............

Hi Suits00,
There is a big craft store here in Phoenix called Joann Fabrics, they have a huge assortment of acrylic paints in small 6-8 ounce bottles for only $2 each. I loaded up on a bunch of different colors. The finished artwork is bright, but not glossy like the yellow I painted on the sides of the cabinet and the finish feels pretty durable. I was thinking of applying some type of high gloss sealant, but I fear it would fade the white paint yellow over time.
