It's been a while when I was into in-car audio installation since I last looked into the matter.
Looking at the subwoofer in this pic:

You can see the bass-speaker itself on the left side of the subwoofer enclosure and then the ventilation pipe (or whatever it's called) in the front.
What would be the most efficient placement within a cab? Should the speaker or the pipe point to the outside? Would a small blowhole perhaps even help? Or should even both, speaker and pipe, point to the outside (by putting the subwoofer in one of the cab's corner)?
Perhaps, should the pipe be pointed towards the back of the cab, so that the soundwaves get reflected by the wall?
I hope you get the idea behind my questions. So, what's the most efficient position?
Little, additional question:
What is correct: most efficient or the most efficient ?? (I remember my English teacher telling something about the combination of the and most, but I can't quite remember it...

I used that same system in one of my previous jukes.
I cut a hole the same size as that sub, and then slid it out about 1/4" past cabinet.
speaker side out. I then got some black caulk from home depot and sealed it to cab.
the pipe (airhole) faced inside the cabinet and resonated well off the inside of my large cabinet.
sounded good and was acceptable for the budget price of that system.
make sure you secure all wires,hardware etc.
bass will vibrate throughout the cabinet and you don't want it to sound like some ghetto car vibrating the trunk lid loose or rattling the jack off its mounts.

Thanks for the input. And yeah, while I was into car audio, I encountered many of those fools who had vibrating license plates - way uncool : )
