wow. watched this on boxing day. i bought the dvd a while ago, and it just sat there unwrapped. i actually was thinking i was buying Mulholland Falls (love a good gangster flick) when i got it! I didn't even know it starred Naomi Watts...
anyway, not knowing anything about it i proceeded to view it. first i'm thinking 'gee, this is strangely acted'. a bit hammed up. but as the movie progressed, it all came together. even the seemingly gratuitous sex scene has it's place once you get further into the movie.
i finished the movie thinking 'did i get it?'. because that's how you felt with Eraserhead. Of course with eraserhead, David Lynch has stated there was nothing to get. it was just fantasmagorical. I jumped on the net to see what other people thought of Mulholland Dr. and i was pleased to see i did 'get it'. I'm not a master of allegory and metaphor but i managed (",)
a hint to anyone who hasn't seen it (this is not a spoiler). in the dvd cover is david lynchs list of ten clues. i didnt notice this unitl after i saw the movie. i would suggest NOT looking at them since you really want to just get absorbed in the movie, not be busy trainspotting. i will watch this again bearing the clues in mind sometime. at roughly 2 1/2 hours it wont be anytime soon though ;)

I'm a fan of unique movies and story telling, and I hate movies that are dumbed down for wide audience appeal, but this movie still sucked.

The street itself is wonderful.
Nothing better than going up there at 6am on a weekend, dropping the top and blasting the heat while going as fast as you can!(safely of course)

gratuitous sex scene
BLASPHEMER!

I hated it. I even tried to like it, but a couple days after I watched it I finally had to accept the truth.
