I have all the files required to run Dragon's Lair, but now the only thing I need is a framefile. And also I've tried to use the framefile wizard, but I don't know the start frame it asks for.

150 dl-slates.m2v

Check out this link on mameworld:

Alright, I'll try both when I get home. I'll keep you posted
-
Sorry I never replied, but now I have this ALMOST working perfectly. The only thing is the numbers before the name of the *.m2v are not quite right. How can I figure out the right numbers?
-
The framefile that I linked for you to mameworld matches the contents of my framefile exactly. The only thing you have to change is the first line to point to the folder where your m2v files are located. Did it not work for you?
-
It works but like, whenever I die, it skips to the next "challenge" (if you will). So pretty much whenever I die, i got to the next spot of the game.
-
The developers of Daphne say this is normal behavior for Dragon's Lair:

-
Oh alright, but mine does skip over the first "challenge". Y'know the one where you fall through the wooden bridge.
-
The scene with the bridge wasn't ever in the actual arcade game as far as I know. It was cut for some reason.
-
Yep,
Here's the faq on the drawbridge scene:

Hey guys,
I have the latest beta version of Daphne and Daphneloader. Do I need that framefile that SGT posted a link to? All mine has is:
.
151 lair.m2v
but everything seems ok (although I haven't played this game in years!)
-
One second I'll link you to one of my older threads telling you exactly what you need. BTW, you WILL need that framefile posted by SGT.
EDIT: Here, http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=74689.0

I'm not so sure that he doesn't have a different set of video files. If it was me, I wouldn't change anything if it works fine after testing.
-
After some research, I came across this, posted at the Daphne forums:
This version features full, Digital Leisure approved, automatic downloads of Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair 2, Space Ace, and Thayer's Quest! No more dvd2daph, no more framefiles, no more configuration! Just select the game you want and click Start.
So I guess I don't have framefiles in the latest beta... sorry I missed this last night. But thanks for your inputs!
-
That means if you have the original DVDs of these games you can download the compatible rips from Daphne's own peer2peer system.
But if you have ripped the DVDs already you still can use the framefiles.
Looking at your framefile suggests that you ripped a laserdisc copy.
The option is still there for ripped laserdiscs, just follow the prompts like in previous versions of Daphne.
-
I am a complete noob to Daphne and find the info on the forums there to be useless.
I have found none of the 'files', be it CFG or ATF files, that they make note of so often. Using the latest Daphne / Loader does not seem to do anything but make me download for 3 days straight.
I have all of the ROMs I would need to play many of the games, yet Daphne Loader forces me to download them still and Daphne.exe says they are not on a Laser Disk Player and I need to mod a file somewhere...
I'm lost.
-
The information will be useless until you have all the pieces to the puzzle. ;D
Daphne does not work with ROMS alone like MAME..... you need the AUDIO and VIDEO files that go with them. That is what's taking so long to download.
You have to keep in mind that laserdsic games used real audio and video footage from a disc. Daphne emulates the hardware..... but you still need the real audio and video files in order for the hardware to do anything.
Once everything is downloaded you may need to configure each game to use the VLDP (virtual laserdisc player) to run the games using the audio and video files that were downloaded, because Daphne was designed to run REAL arcade style laserdisc players as well.
Let it finish doing it's thing and then play around with it.
And remember that Dragons Lair, Dragons Lair II, Space Ace and Thayers Quest require you to have the DVD to "unlock" those particular games with the new version of Daphne.
And read the FAQ: http://www.daphne-emu.com/site3/FAQ_USA.php# (http://www.daphne-emu.com/site3/FAQ_USA.php#)

Ok, not so lost anymore...
I have been tinkering around with the FrameFiles and here's the simplest way I can come to terms with the setup of the files.
1. Make a folder in your base directory for Daphne called "Framefile"
2. Put into this folder a single .txt file for each game you wish to play: (i.e. Badlands_Framefile)
3. In each of these .txt files you must edit them to read as follows:
"drive:\main dir\any sub dir\any LD rom dir\game folder\"
"frame#" "file to run.m2v"
( i.e. C:\Games\Daphne\ROMs\Badlands\
151 badlands-pc.m2v)
4. The DaphneLoader still has to bring down a huge amount of downloaded file info.. but if you have the Roms saved to disk or if you wish to Rip the LD's to a Rom, that saves a huge amount of time.
5. You can override the full file download for most files by going into the:
DaphneLoader (assuming v. 1.0-2.2.0 here),
Pick your game,
Goto the Configure Daphne Options,
In the Game/Laserdisk Tab pick Configure Laserdisk,
Choose NO, I will install missing files (under Virtual LDP Options, and don't say OK, click cancel on prompt)
Then direct the emulator to the correct MPEG directory in which that game's Framefile.txt is located.
I think that's all I had to do on the side of 'manual' configuration. The final steps for parsing and such the program handles with reasonable speed. :dizzy:

Or, you could just go here http://www.laserarchive.com/ddl/ (http://www.laserarchive.com/ddl/) and let Daphne do ALL of the work for you... Downloads EVERYTHING you need to play all of the laserdisc games...
