I'm looking for some leaf switch joysticks for a 2nd cab I'm putting together. The only two leaf switch sticks I can find are chinese cheapos, and ones sold by Bob Roberts. Has anybody used the one's from BR?
Here's a linky: http://therealbobroberts.net/leafjoy.html (http://therealbobroberts.net/leafjoy.html)

They work, but look and feel kind of cheap. I thought this might be a good replacement for my pacman joystick, but the red balltop looks and feels really cheap. The stick seems to work pretty good though.

He sells them in glossy red, also. A whole bunch of colors actually. As long as they feel ok, I'll get them.

Anybody else use 'em?

I bought 2 from him and they are chinese crap. Don't waste your money.
I still have them in a box somewhere. I took them back off after I installed them.
I would find some nice used ones like I did.

So is buying old Wico's the only way to go?

Modern sticks work great too. For instance the Ultimarc UltraStick 360 (http://www.ultimarc.com/ultrastik_info.html). costs a bit, but it can do just about anything. Even emulate a mouse. It doesn't have microswitches so it's quiet as a leaf stick.

Yeah, those are nice. I've got the Happ P360's on my other cab that are also silent. But, I'm doing my 2nd cab on the cheap.

The one's that Bob Roberts sell ARE the cheap chinese crap sticks. I've said it before: I don't understand why he does it. He's got a great reputation and I've recently experienced myself why. So why he is willing to sell these is a mystery to me. He should warn everyone before ordering....
Anyway if you'd like to know why they are crap:

(Wow, that was in my early BYOAC days :D)
And, once again, may I suggest the Suzo Inductive ? Completely noiseless, no wearing contacts. Works with induction so no problems with LED/optic related stuff...... electronically switchable between 4/8 ways (if you're a bit handy) and CHEAP (if www.tntamusements.com still has them.....)
Seeing all the fancy new developments in joysticks and other stuff, it amazes me that no-one seems to be able to produce a good quality simple leaf joystick anymore.....

Yeah and then there was the thread from Tailgunner (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=15328.0) a long time before that.
I can sort of deal with the low quality of the materials. These sticks are really cheap so what can you expect really. What amazes me is why they can't simply make the shaft and grommet so that it fits. Looking at the dat on tailgunners thread (january 2004) These sticks have been selling for at least 4 years, so you would imagine by now they got word that the shafts don't fit properly and that they finally make it fit.

The BR sticks looked different than the cheap ones I saw for sale at quarterarcade.com. Oh well, maybe I'll go with Happ Supers with a ball top from Tornado Terry.
