Title: mannys old skool barcade
Post by: xnsxmanny on December 19, 2007, 12:21:49 am: here is my old skool arcade that i built using cabinet inspiration from sonicade. the side art was obtained off the internet,which i altered to my liking on photoshop. bezel art was made on photoshop as was the control panel and marquee art.total cost was around $50-$60 to make, cost of controls and wood everything else i had. i sold it to a friend for $500. i made it off of a cheap computer and cheap controls, hacked keyboard etc. pretty much as cheap as i could just to get the experience and know how for a better arcade build. next project is a two player sitdown arcade/jukebox (not a cocktail), made from a pentium 4 1.3 ghz celeron with a 21" monitor (old setup that i have). third project will be a 4 player arcade/jukebox using a 1.3ghz amd (another old setup)with a 36" gateway monitor that i picked up off of ebay for $100 about 6 months ago. cant wait to get to that one. the proceeds from selling the barcade are funding the build of the two player arcade, the proceeds from selling that one will go to the building of the 4 player :cheers:

1. What version of Mmae32 are you using on it?

2. I take it you are using 32's built in FE?

3. What kinda O/S are you running?

4. Can you give more details on the hardware that it has?

I love these cheap builds. I like to learn all I can from others that have made them.

Post by: xnsxmanny on December 20, 2007, 02:43:07 am: not sure what version of mame it was i tried a few different verisions. with one version i was able to run mamewah fe on it, but my computer crashed. after getting everything up and runing again i couldnt find that version again so i just eneded up using the mame 32 fe. the new mameui works with mamewah so thats what my next setup is going to run.my operating system was windows xp professional :angel: that some how works on mutiple computers :angel:. computer was an old pentium 2 300 mhz with like a 6gb hard drive and 128mb memory, 15" flat screen crt monitor,keyboard hacked to cheap joystick and buttons that worked quit well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBTOX:IT&item=310008544633&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI
the setup performed flawlessly even with that old computer.

daold man it has like 250 games on it the ones that were pretty much the best ones i liked to play.but it mostly played my favorites mk3,galaga,techmo bowl football and pacman

Post by: xnsxmanny on December 27, 2007, 10:42:52 pm: i found the side art on the internet i just added things to it and took things out. i changed it to my liking. i did the bezel art myself using images from the web. control panel and marquee i did myself and the boot screen was found on the web. it was the light bulb and and other images on it. i removed the other images and added the takin it old skool part.
