Title: My First Shot at a Marquee, any suggestions?
Post by: Bonsai Master on December 12, 2007, 10:44:59 pm
Here is my first shot at a marquee for my first cab.  I started like most I'm sure by slapping every character I could onto the thing.  I soon decided that less is definitely more.  I like the turtles one even though I didn't play it alot, but I think that I need to find the font to make the Tuholske arcade look right.
Any feedback?
Obviously I am self taught with Photoshop and I need to work on the backgrounds.

Personally I like the first marquee.  :applaud:
Couple of suggestions though:
Vector and outline your main characters to give them some definition.
When colouring them make use of the smudge tool to blend the skin tones together, not too much though or you'll loose the marquee feel.
Your lettering is very dark for such a bright background. try adding a light outer glow or drop shadow.

First one rocks...

Need some shadow though.

Think you should bevel and drop some shadow on your TMNT text logo.

Also, you may want to watch the edges.  The marquee retainer will cover up some of the stuff, so you don't want it that close to the edges.  For example:  Your MAME text.
