I have a megatouch super 4 bartop arcade game and I have this black shadow in the upper right corner. Will i be able to get rid of it? And how? There are a few new caps on the chassis but not all of them.

if the individual convergence/purity rings have NOT been moved , the ring assembly may need to be repositioned.
however, i think the convergence has been altered, as it does indeed appear to be misadjusted........
first step is to deguass the crt .
to align , begin with a mirror and a crosshatch or dot pattern on screen.
note : >>> DO NOT TOUCH THE RED WIRE ON THE PICTURE TUBE<<< 20-30KV PRESENT !!!!!!!!
adjust the rings to bring red, blue and green lines into alignment observing the reflection ( mirror)
the original ring position may be factory marked- (making realignment easy- line up the marks)
the same can be done to return the rings to a starting position for practice (or if in doubt)

qrz,
That reminds me of a question that i have been meaning to ask but keep forgetting... Can you touch the rings while the monitor is on? Have not had to do it, but just in case I ever do.
-
yes, and that is the way to make the adjustment.
the set must be operating .
a good rule of thumb for working around high voltages is to do so with one hand behind your back.
and BE CAREFUL. > don't fear electricity , but you must respect it !!<

Ok ill give that a try after work. Ill get back to you if it doesnt work. Thanks.
-
ok i tried that and nothing happens. Any other suggestions?
-
Try a good degaussing.
-
Did that too. There is a switch on the little remote circuit board and i have used it a couple of times and it does nothing.
-
It does nothing or it doesn't solve your problem? If it does nothing, it's not functioning.
-
Oh, yes, it does the degaussing but doesnt do anything to the shadow.
-
do you get the same with a blank raster(no signal connected),if so could be a damaged tube
-
when i pull the rgb and sync wire harness the screen goes to a green color and yes the shadow is still there.
-
On some screens i dont see it but if its a purple screen or green i can see it good. It doesnt seem to show with a red or blue screen. Or of course i cant see it with a black screen.
-
so if you disconnect the green video input you don't get this shadow?
-
berlincam86, a pm is en route.
it should help a bit

Yes i got it i will work on it as soon as i can and ill let you know what happens. Thanks alot for the help.

Just to let anyone know who cares. The problem was solved. the shadow happen to be something with the deflection yoke itself. I happen to move it while i was screwing around with the convergance and it went away. the wedges are not in there very well but they are glued so i put a piece of paper in there to keep the deflection yoke still(I hope this is ok to do). I still have purity and convergance problems but i dont have a pattern generator to do that. I have it kind of close but its still not right. Maybe ill take it to a tv repair man to have that done. Thanks guys for all your help.

all u need is a stationary pic . try one of the service screens.
if u have the yoke correctly positioned, insert the rubber wedges and seal in place with a bead of silcone rubber.
once dry , then tackle the convergence . suggest marking a line accross the rings for a reference . why ?
just line up the mark to return to the starting position. ;)
aligning convergence is not hard with practice .
