Title: Marquee Retainers
Post by: Vash on December 09, 2007, 10:00:27 pm
I'm new here, so I figure an introduction is in order.  I've never constructed an arcade cabinet before, but would like to, very much ;)

I've started to design my cabinet with Sketchpad, and it was going well until I got to my marquee.  I've been looking around Happ's for a marquee retainer, but can't find one for the life of me.  If there's another way to install the marquee(hopefully as good or better), it'd be much appreciated.  Even better would be a direct link to the damn thing =p  Thanks!

You have to order two right, top and bottom?

You just order however many feet you need - you cut it yourself.

They only sell them in 10 foot lengths. The minimum order is 10 feet. However they cut it in half and you get a 5 foot tube in the mail with two sections. I know because I have the tube and giant retainers sitting in the garage. Kinda overly confusing, moreso than it has to be.  ??? ;D

What's the general shape like?  I'm trying to make my plans as accurate as possible to ease the build process, but the picture on Happ is crap.  Is it a triangle or two rectangles pieced at a right angle?

THIS (http://bellasarcade.blogspot.com/2007/06/marquee-installation.html) might help... even though I didn't really get a good shot of the profile.  It's flat on top and then kind of rounded over the edge... like this:

Are there any other alternatives?

I ask only because Happ has a $25 min order rule, and I
certainly don't need 20 feet of this stuff?  Maybe somebody
here wants to sell me some?  (I need two 26" sections)

^^^ He speaks the truth.  I told him the lengths I needed, he cut them to size for me.  Not only is his cheaping shipper, but he's a wholesome guy and his prices are fantastic thru the whole entire happ lineup!
