this is my first cab. been reading and planning on and off for over a year now. finished the bulk of the woodworking last year and finally made some room in my basement to continue working on it now. just ordered an Ipac and optipac and a pair of U360 :)
heres some pics of the assembled frame i have.
i used some ideas from ChroMame cabinet in the examples page. so its put together using brackets so i can dissable it whenever i like. its already massively heavy so this was definately a good idea. plsu the mdf is heavy enough.
i decided to go all out and make this a massive 4 player arcade.
it sits at just over 7ft tall.
big 4ft wide panel. and originally i was gonna put in a 27 inch crt tv but then after it was done i realized i could squeeze a 32 inch tv in there lol so i picked up a sony wega 32 inch crt tv. its frikin heavy!!
in addition the control panel is a little too high. i forgot to factor in the plywood and wheels it would be sitting on and its alittle too high now and way too much trouble to cut deeper into the cab to lower it. i will probably end up having a platform or ramp around it or at least get some bar stools.
anyways without further delay heres the pics. tell me what you guys think :)

looks like you did a lot of work on the hinges for the CP, might run into a opening issue swinging it toward the cab with the JoySticks.

yeah thanks.
i wont be opening it fully so i dont anticipate having problems with the hinges. also the hinges i used are for kitchen cabinets so it open inwardso the top panel wont hit the cabinet while opening.
and yeah it is quite the monster lol
yeah the tv is not an lcd, its a crt but yeah the front is flat, next thing i have to do is build the shelf for the tv.

I installed a 25" TV in my cab, and it's a bear to remove (I have about 1/8" clearance on eash side) but I like the size and they way it fills the whole cabinet.
That 32" is going to look really sweet in there.
Is it S-video to the TV? My only regret is that the TV does not provide much detail. It's great for the classic games: Pacman, Galaga, Joust, Donkey Kong, etc etc, but I also like to play the Pinball games and the detail is great on my desktop w/ a 19" LCD, but is lost on my arcade cab. I'm thinking of installing a 28 - 32" LCD vertically next year. (wishful thinking).
Regardless, you'll love it and I think the 4 player games are a bonus!

I have one of those Sony's. That cab will weigh around 500lbs.... thats massive. I think 32" might be a bit too big to be that close to. Mines in a showcase and sometimes I think it's a little too big.

yeah ill have to put something on there to be to scale :)
and yeah i know its a little close for a 32 inch tv :P
but im also getting a pair of metal ddr pads and it will be perfect for that since ill be a little further away :)
thats why i was thinking of getting some sort of radiation shielded plexiglass?? or some sort of filter on the front??
any ideas on that or where to get that from?
as for the size, i still have about 1.5 inches clearance on both sides.
